Job description

The Edwardsville, IL Office of Modjeski and Masters is seeking a Highway Design Engineer with at least 5 years of related experience. Full time and part time opportunities are available.
What We're Looking For
  • Mid-level engineer with at least 5 years of related experience in the design and development of transportation projects.
  • A minimum of a BS degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited College or University with an emphasis on Highway/Transportation Design
  • Professional Engineer license in IL or MO is preferred, or eligible to obtain a license in IL or MO.

What You'll Do
  • Coordinate with technical staff in performing a variety of transportation engineering tasks, including the development of plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Highway Design, including but not limited to roadway geometrics, drainage, pavement design, permanent signage, intersections, ADA compliance, and work zone traffic control and Transportation Management Plans (TMPs).
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, including occasional field assignments and assistance with statements of interest and technical/price proposals.
  • Strong organizational skills to prioritize and perform highway related tasks for multiple projects; IDOT and/or MoDOT experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with plan preparation, including roadway, traffic control, signing & pavement marking, erosion & sediment control, utility, and cross sections.
  • Coordinate with Teaming Subconsultants for topographic and property survey, geotechnical services, traffic analysis and environmental permitting
  • MicroStation/AutoCAD experience with OpenRoads/Civil 3D proficiency, scheduling experience are pluses.
  • Good oral and written communication skills, with a fluency in English.

As a Highway Design Engineer with Modjeski and Masters, you will work on a variety of challenging and rewarding highway engineering projects for a myriad of transportation clients. As a member of our team, you'll be immediately responsible for performing engineering tasks under the careful supervision of established and respected professionals. Our highway engineers prepare roadway plans for approaches and interchanges as part of bridge design projects. They also develop solutions for larger corridor improvement projects addressing multimodal traffic concerns and minimizing impacts to environmental and cultural resources.
