Job description

Position Summary We are recruiting for a System Architect/Modernization Engineer at Peterson SFB, in Colorado Springs, CO supporting the Ground-Based Radar Digitization (GBRD) program. The Ground-Based Radar Digitization (GBRD) program modernizes the legacy radar systems associated with the five Upgraded Early Warning Radars (UEWRs), the Perimeter Acquisition Radar Attack Characterization System (PARCS), Cobra Dane, and Eglin Radar which support Missile Warning, Missile Defense, and Space Domain Awareness missions. This modernization effort replaces outdated analog and hardware-only components with advanced digital, scalable solutions that leverage a government-owned, open-architecture approach. An additional program goal is to address existing cybersecurity vulnerabilities in the legacy systems by improving cybersecurity capabilities, to include threat detection and data protection. This is a full-time position located at Peterson Space Force Base, Colorado. Responsibilities Duties include, but not limited to: * Able to apply Radar technology and operations and suggest improvements for technical insertion and modernization strategies. * Provides technical expertise for AoAs between radar systems. * Provides systems architecture vision and engineering support for long range radar planning. * Able to adapt current systems such as the Integrated Tactical Warning/Attack Assessment capability to support Space Surveillance missions. * Conducts engineering impact analysis and implementation solution of major projects including system upgrades and design improvements such as the 5-9 digit satellite catalog renumbering modification. * Provides Missile Warning and Space Surveillance requirements support to identify deficiencies and solutions. * Uses modeling and simulation to support operations and sustainment, identifies capability gaps for improving the System Program Agency, System or Site Test Facility or other Lab Facilities. * Familiar with the system development suite or other capabilities at site, able to suggest potential improvements to lab and support equipment. Specifies improvement for additional radar technical solutions (e.g. identify best approaches for sustainment upgrades and modifications to the radar system). * Provides sustainment engineering team evaluations on aging hardware and making recommendations for new and modified subsystems and components. * Provides engineering assistance to PM and Lead Engineer on specific technical efforts including cost estimates, market research, prime contractor studies and other contractor support options. * Reviews system supportability analysis and incorporates findings into technical baseline planning. * Provides engineering assistance for development of briefings and contributes toward defense and presentations of Acquisition Strategy Panels presentations, POM inputs and training packages for new engineers. * Supports new version releases both hardware and software, analyzes Emergency Depot Level Maintenance/Urgent Depot Level Maintenance, Engineering Assists and Technical Assists as needed. Qualifications Minimum Requirements: Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen Clearance: At least active Secret and ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret/SCI security clearance. Education: High School Diploma Years of Experience: 10 years of directly related experience; or BA/BS degree with 3 years of directly related experience Preferred Qualifications: Education: Master's degree in Systems Engineering or a related technical field. Years of experience: 15 years of directly related experience Additional Experience: * DoD Acquisition Program Office experience * INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) or Expert (ESEP). * Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. * DAWIA Practitioner certification in Engineering & Technical Management (ETM) or Program Management (PM). Or previous Level III certification in Systems Engineering (SE) or PM. * Experience supporting Missile Warning, Missile Defense and / or Space Domain Awareness or Command and Control
