What is modern trade?

Modern trade refers to the organized retail sector that includes large retail chains, supermarkets, hypermarkets, and convenience stores. Unlike traditional trade, which consists of small, independent shops and local markets, modern trade operates with standardized processes, advanced technology, and bulk purchasing. This sector offers greater product variety, competitive pricing, and a more structured shopping experience. Modern trade is rapidly growing in many countries due to urbanization, changing consumer preferences, and increased demand for convenience.
