Job description

Multnomah Athletic Club is more than Portland's most legendary hub of sports and socializing. It's like a small city unto itself. Where else can you find four restaurants, three pools, a climbing gym, state-of-the-art studios and fitness suite, a complex of racquet sport courts, massage offerings, a boutique, plus a grand ballroom and variety of events spaces all in one place? To say that every employee of MAC has room to move is an understatement almost as big as MAC's 600,000 square feet of recreational possibilities.
Want a career with a future? A campus worth exploring? A one-of-a-kind community on which you can have a direct impact? MAC is all of those things and more.
The Role
The Multnomah Athletic Club (MAC) is seeking a Summer Basketball Camp Coach to join our Court Sports Team. This coach will create a fun, safe, and inclusive camp experience for youth participants through high-quality basketball instruction, structured activities, and positive mentorship. This role supports skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship while serving as a role model for campers throughout the summer season.
What You'll Do
  • Lead age-appropriate basketball drills, games, and instructional sessions
  • Teach fundamental skills such as dribbling, shooting, passing, and defense
  • Supervise campers during all activities to ensure safety and well-being
  • Foster teamwork, sportsmanship, and positive behavior
  • Adapt instruction to meet the needs of campers with varying skill levels
  • Enforce camp rules, safety guidelines, and behavioral expectations
  • Communicate effectively with campers, fellow coaches, and camp leadership
  • Assist with setup, breakdown, and organization of equipment
  • Respond appropriately to injuries, incidents, or emergencies following established procedures

What You'll Bring
  • Experience playing basketball and/or coaching youth sports
  • Ability to work effectively with children and teens in a group setting
  • Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
  • Reliability, punctuality, and a collaborative mindset
  • Ability to remain active for extended periods in a gym or outdoor setting

Preferred:
  • Previous camp counselor or youth coaching experience
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Background or coursework in physical education, recreation, or a related field

What You'll Gain
At Multnomah Athletic Club, we believe in taking care of our team members. We offer a wide range of benefits to ensure your well-being, both inside and outside the club. Here's what's in it for you:
  • Full-time employees: Enjoy medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Facility access: Free access to our exercise room and classes, climbing gym, and pools.
  • Convenience: Free parking and discounted public transportation passes.
  • Retirement: Participate in our 401(k) program with an employer match.
  • Well-being: Access our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for free.
  • Perks: Enjoy discounts on club services and meals.
