We are actively seeking a dedicated Journeyman Tool and Die Maker to join and grow in the PPG organization. The Journeyman Tool and Die Maker will have extensive experience in precision tool and die fabrication, maintenance, and repair ensuring the highest quality standards required in the aerospace & defense industry. This role involves collaboration with engineering teams to produce, modify, and maintain dies, jigs, fixtures, and special tooling specific to the production of aerospace & defense components.

Requirements:
  • Manufacture, modify, and maintain precision tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures according to blueprints, CAD drawings, and engineering specifications
  • Operate various machines such as lathes, mills, grinders, and CNC machinery to produce high-precision aerospace parts
  • Inspect finished tools and dies using precision measuring equipment (e.g., micrometers, calipers, CMM) to ensure they meet tight aerospace tolerances and specifications
  • Diagnose and repair damaged or malfunctioning dies, tools, and fixtures to minimize production downtime
  • Perform regular maintenance on tools, dies, and machinery to ensure operational efficiency and longevity
  • Maintain accurate records of tool modifications, repairs, and updates, ensuring traceability and compliance with aerospace & defense industry standards
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations specific to the aerospace & defense industry


Knowledge, skills, and abilities

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Technical training or a degree in Tool and Die Making, Machining, or a related field is preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Tool and Die Maker, preferably in the aerospace or precision manufacturing industries
  • Expert level reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD models
  • Strong experience setting up and operating manual and CNC machining equipment
  • Strong knowledge of various metals and alloys used in aerospace & defense tool and die making
  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, etc.)
  • Expert attention to detail
  • Ability and willingness to problem solve autonomously or with a team
  • Experience working within AS9100 or similar aerospace quality management systems
  • Familiarity with industry-standard safety practices and compliance
  • Solid understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)

Compensation

  • Compensation for this role is based on industry specific experience
