Position Summary: 

As a member of the Tool Room group, this position works independently from complex prints and/or computerized drawings, plans, designs, constructs or repairs a wide variety of intricate and complex prototypes, tools, dies, jigs, gauges, and fixtures to precise dimensions. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reads and interprets hard copies and/or computerized drawings and specifications of tools, dies, prototypes or models
  • Computes dimensions and tolerances accurately
  • Verifies machined components for conformance to specifications.
  • Proficient at tool debugging
  • Positions, secures, measures, and works metal stock or materials to lay out for machining
  • Operates a variety of machine tools to cut, turn, mill, plane, bore or grind in the construction or repair of tools, dies, jigs, gauges, or fixtures
  • Sets up and safely operates mechanical punch presses or other appropriate equipment to test completed tools, dies, jigs or fixtures for proper operation
  • Ensures that parts are completed within required tolerance, without rejection or return and within time and budget quoted for the job
  • Follows all company and ISO procedures.  Maintains procedures as assigned.  Actively participates in continuous improvement initiatives
  • Promotes a safe and positive work environment
  • Supports activities required to implement and maintain the Company’s strategic and departmental objectives
  • Keeps abreast of latest in technology regarding area of expertise.  Makes recommendation to implement at Cirtec Medical where feasible
  • Effectively communicates with other departments, supervisors, and managers, including participation in meetings as required
  • Serves as back up for other tool and die makers.  May train other personnel as needed

Must Have:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 5+ years of tool maker experience
  • Basic computer skills and experience with CAD, preferably Solidworks
  • Ability to setup, operate and maintain equipment, including: Bridgeport, Lathe, Surface grinder, Cut-off saw, Inspection devices
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, blueprints, specifications, and illustrations
  • Familiarity with mechanical and hydraulic punch presses
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend English

Salary Range: 35 to 50/hr based on skills and experience.
