What is a model home representative?

Model Home Representatives are professionals who work in residential real estate, typically for home builders or developers. They are responsible for welcoming potential buyers, providing information about the homes and communities, conducting tours of model homes, and answering questions about floor plans, pricing, and features. Their role is crucial in creating a positive first impression and helping clients envision themselves living in the home. Model Home Representatives often assist in the sales process by connecting interested buyers with sales agents or helping them start the purchasing process.

How does a model home representative typically collaborate with sales teams and homebuyers during the sales process?

Model Home Representatives play a key role in guiding prospective buyers through the home viewing experience and often act as the first point of contact. They work closely with sales associates to relay buyer feedback, schedule appointments, and ensure the model home is presented in its best light. Representatives also answer buyer questions, provide information on features and community amenities, and help facilitate communication between buyers and the sales team. This collaborative environment requires strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail to ensure a seamless and positive experience for all parties.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a model home representative, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Model Home Representative, you need strong sales acumen, customer service skills, and a basic understanding of real estate, often supported by a high school diploma or relevant experience. Familiarity with CRM software, property management systems, and virtual tour platforms is typically important. Outstanding interpersonal communication, attention to detail, and a welcoming demeanor help you connect with prospective buyers and create a positive first impression. These skills are crucial for driving sales, ensuring client satisfaction, and effectively representing the builder or property developer.

Job description

Job Requirements
Help more families achieve the dream of homeownership.
Growth Homes, in partnership with New Home Star, is seeking experienced, results-driven New Home Advisors to join the Growth Homes onsite sales team in the Dallas-Fort Worth market. Growth Homes is preparing to open new communities in Royse City, Mesquite, and Terrell, creating exciting opportunities for experienced new home sales professionals to take ownership of a community while helping establish the Growth Homes presence across DFW.
We're looking for an experienced new home sales professional who understands the DFW market, is comfortable selling from a model home, and can bring an established approach to prospecting, relationship-building, and closing.
About Growth Homes
At Growth Homes, we believe that no matter where you start in life, or the neighborhood you live in, every family deserves the opportunity to own a home, to start building wealth, and to enjoy the American Dream. Our mission is to make homeownership possible for more people.
Growth Homes is fueled by two private equity real estate funds: the NCRC Housing Rehab Fund (founded in 2015) and the American Homeownership Innovation Fund (founded in 2023). These social mission-driven funds provide both affordable and open-market homes for sale, building communities that welcome more people home. Growth Builders LLC employs the individuals who work on behalf of these funds.
Fundamental to the New Home Advisor position are GROWTH's Core Values: Strive for Excellence, Collaborate with Grace, Embrace Diversity, and Powered by Ingenuity.
What You'll Do
  • Guide prospective buyers through the new home sales journey from their first model home visit through closing, building trusted relationships along the way.
  • Conduct engaging model home and community tours, communicating home features, amenities, lifestyle benefits, and the overall value of Growth Homes.
  • Educate buyers on financing basics, monthly payments, available incentives, and homeownership resources, particularly when supporting first-time homebuyers.
  • Proactively manage prospects through consistent follow-up and an established sales process, while building relationships with local Realtors to generate opportunities and community awareness.
  • Maintain proactive communication throughout construction and closing, collaborating with lending, construction, marketing, leadership, and other partners to deliver a seamless customer experience.
  • Manage sales contracts, CRM activity, customer documentation, and follow-up with accuracy and professionalism.
  • Stay informed on DFW market conditions, competing communities, and buyer activity to effectively position Growth Homes and identify sales opportunities.
  • Represent Growth Homes with integrity, professionalism, and a collaborative mindset, pitching in beyond the model home to support the team and Growth Homes' continued DFW expansion.
What We're Looking For
  • 2+ years of direct new home sales experience, preferably with a production homebuilder, with proven success selling from a model home and achieving sales and closing goals.
  • Familiarity with the DFW new construction market, including experience with local Realtors and Realtor offices; established relationships in the surrounding markets are a plus.
  • Experience selling in a master-planned community, including presenting community amenities and lifestyle benefits, is preferred.
  • Experience guiding first-time homebuyers through the purchase process, including an understanding of relevant financing considerations.
  • Strong prospecting, follow-up, negotiation, and closing skills, with the ability to contribute quickly within a new community.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with a customer-first, self-motivated, and organized approach to managing sales activity.
  • Collaborative and adaptable team player who is willing to pitch in beyond traditional sales responsibilities to support a growing DFW operation.
  • Comfortable utilizing CRM and sales technology; Spanish-speaking or bilingual capabilities are a plus. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.

Work Schedule & Additional Requirements
  • Full-time, onsite position serving a Growth Homes community in the Dallas-Fort Worth market.
  • Weekend availability is expected to support model home traffic and prospective buyers.
  • Flexibility to travel to other Growth Homes communities throughout DFW for meetings, training, coverage, or other business needs as the local team expands.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Competitive base salary plus commission.
  • Full-time W-2 position.
  • Benefits package including 401(k).
  • Paid training, ongoing sales development, and professional support.
  • Opportunity to join Growth Homes at an exciting stage of its DFW expansion, with multiple new communities preparing to open across the market.
