Model Director information

What is a model director?

Model Directors are professionals in the fashion or entertainment industry responsible for managing, coaching, and directing models during photo shoots, runway shows, and other events. They work closely with photographers, designers, and creative teams to ensure models embody the desired look and feel for a project. Model Directors often oversee casting, provide feedback on posing and expressions, and help models develop their skills and confidence. Their role is essential for ensuring that creative visions are effectively translated through the models' performances.

How does a model director typically collaborate with creative and production teams during a campaign or project?

A Model Director works closely with creative directors, photographers, stylists, and production managers to ensure that the models selected and managed align with the project's vision. They attend planning meetings, contribute to casting decisions, and coordinate schedules to ensure smooth workflow on set. Effective communication and adaptability are crucial, as last-minute changes to concepts or logistics are common. This collaborative environment helps ensure that creative goals are met while also supporting the well-being and professionalism of the modeling team.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a model director, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Model Director, you need expertise in fashion industry trends, talent management, and strong organizational skills, often supported by a degree in fashion, business, or a related field. Familiarity with booking software, portfolio management systems, and digital collaboration tools is commonly required. Outstanding communication, leadership, and negotiation skills help build strong relationships with models, clients, and industry partners. These skills ensure successful model management, effective team coordination, and the delivery of high-quality results in a competitive industry.

What is the difference between Model Director vs Model Manager?

Las Vegas, Nevada

The SHOW comes alive at MGM Resorts International

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to work in a place full of excitement, diversity, and entertainment? Are you enthusiastic about being a team player in one of the most fascinating industries in the world? At MGM Resorts, we seek individuals like YOU to create unique and show-stopping experiences for our guests.

THE JOB:

The Art Director, Creative Technology (GenAI) is a hybrid individual contributor role responsible for creating generative AI-based content across the wide spectrum of MGM resort and product offerings, including imagery for lifestyle, architecture, F&B, entertainment, retail, and more, as well as audio and innovation-leaning formats. This work will feature all marketing applications, including original campaigns and full-funnel advertising across print, digital, and social. The role combines traditional Art Director craft on photo and video shoots (styling, set design, wardrobe styling, casting, and photo/video fundamentals) with deep AI and GenAI content engineering capability to produce premium, on-brand content.

THE DAY-TO-DAY:
  • GenAI Content Creation Across MGM Offerings: Create generative AI-based content across the wide spectrum of MGM resort and product offerings—including imagery for lifestyle, architecture, food and beverage, entertainment, retail, and gaming—for use in original campaigns and full-funnel advertising across print, digital, social, and audio channel
  • Photo & Video Shoot Art Direction: Provide hands-on art direction across photo and video shoots, including pre-production planning, on-set art direction, set design, wardrobe styling, prop and dressing decisions, casting and talent direction, and the photographic and cinematic fundamentals (lighting, composition, lens, color, motion) required to capture premium consumer content
  • Advanced Technical Execution & Content Engineering: Apply deep understanding of AI and GenAI fundamentals to bring output to production quality, managing model selection, prompt engineering, and control techniques such as image/video conditioning, references, masks, LoRAs, fine-tunes, and iterative post-processing
  • Brand Strategy Translation to AI Content: Translate brand strategy and creative briefs into AI-generated content concepts that perform across audience segments, marketing funnels, and channels, balancing the speed and scale advantages of GenAI with the craft fundamentals that distinguish premium consumer brand work
  • Prompt Library & Asset Template Management: Build and maintain prompt libraries, asset templates, model references, and reusable content components that improve consistency, efficiency, and quality of GenAI content production across MGM
  • Format-agnostic Campaign Concepting Support: Assist with custom concepting work relating to format-agnostic campaigns and new content platforms, supporting the broader Creative Strategy team's exploration of creative ideas that span design, content, experiential, and integrated channels
  • Emerging GenAI Tool Evaluation: Maintain ongoing awareness of emerging GenAI tools, models, formats, and best practices, evaluating new platforms and integrating capabilities into MGM's content workflow with appropriate brand, quality, and rights controls
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
  • Has a bachelor’s degree in graphic design, Photography, Film, Fine Arts, Visual Communications, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

  • Has 5+ years of art direction experience in photo and video production for consumer brands.
THE PERKS & BENEFITS:
  • Comprehensive wellness programs designed to support employees’ physical, mental, and emotional well‑being.
  • Exclusive access to company-sponsored discounts across hospitality, dining, retail, entertainment, travel, technology, and a wide range of partner offerings.
  • Complimentary parking both during and outside of scheduled work hours.
  • Competitive health, wellness, and income protection benefits for eligible employees.
  • Ongoing professional growth and career development through leadership programs, learning opportunities, strategic networking, and community engagement initiatives.
