Job description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Independently complete basic thorough advanced physical repairs to damaged vehicles, including but not limited to, oil changes, tire rotations, warranty work, wire repairs, AC diagnostic/repairs, some suspension, brakes, and fuse box repairs, and etc.
  • Utilize various OEM tools and diagnostic equipment to make the most effective recommendations for repairs on multiple makes and models.
  • Adequately explain technical diagnoses and needed repairs to non-mechanical individuals which may include employees and clients on a daily and consistent basis
  • Act as a subject matter expert and adequately explain technical diagnoses and needed repairs to non-mechanical individuals on a consistent basis
  • Be able to quickly learn how to evaluate information and data to provide comprehensive interpretation of technical information, electrical components and Advanced Safety Systems (ADAS)
  • Be proficient in identification of faults, error messages, module corrections, etc.
  • Continuously learn new technical information and techniques in e-learning or other training sessions in an effort to stay well-informed with rapidly changing automotive technology
  • Be responsible for test driving and/or moving customer vehicles at residence locations
  • Keep team management aware of mechanical and electrical repair problems as they occur
  • Adhere to all company and shop policy, procedure, safety and environmental rules
  • Ensure compliance utilizing basic knowledge of applicable local, state and federal laws

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
  • Two to three years of automotive dealership experience OR experience in an aftermarket repair facility as an Automotive Technician
  • Ability to operate large commercial vehicles on a daily basis
  • OEM scan tool and/or aftermarket scan tool experience and knowledge
  • Proficient in identification of faults, error messages and modules
  • Strong automotive mechanical and electrical diagnosis, problem-solving and repair experience
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and firm understanding of mechanical repairs/services
  • Ability to effectively communicate with customers at all levels
  • Ability to create invoices and reports for services rendered, deliver and explain invoices to customers
  • Be comfortable with technology, including various mobile devices (payments, tracking, reporting)
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask within multiple assigned responsibilities
  • Current, valid driver's license and satisfactory Motor Vehicle Report (MVR)
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Self-motivated, high energy and a customer-focused perspective
  • Time management and effective communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Excellent communication, professionalism, punctuality, and attention to detail skills

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This role has no supervisory responsibilities.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This job operates inside an automotive dealership environment that may be cold, hot, noisy, and wet and may have fumes or odors due to vehicle maintenance.
Travel:
Travel within the assigned geographic area is expected.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds independently; majority of lifting from knee to shoulder heights; other lifting required from various levels.
  • Requires standing for extended period with frequent stretching, reaching, walking and stooping, pushing and/or pulling in an environment that may be cold, hot, noisy, and wet and may have fumes or odors due to vehicle maintenance.
  • May requires some driving and typing. Required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles.
  • Requires excellent visual acuity and manual dexterity.
