Mobile Service Technician
REPORTS TO: Service Manager
POSITION TYPE: Full-Time
POSITION SUMMARY: The mobile service technician is responsible for delivering high-quality maintenance and light repair services directly at customers’ homes, workplaces, or fleet locations. The Mobile Service Technician represents the dealership brand in the field, ensuring convenient, professional, and exceptional customer experience while upholding the highest standards of safety and technical expertise.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience preferred, but not required
  • Valid Michigan driver’s license and an insurable driving record
  • Ability to read, speak and write English in order fulfill job functions in an understandable way
  • Ability to operate a computer, tablet, and telephone system
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Ability to work independently and manage service schedules in the field
  • Perform routine maintenance services (oil changes, tire rotations, battery replacements, multi-point inspections, etc.) using a fully equipped mobile service vehicle.
  • Utilize dealer management system for repair order creation, booking, and cashiering
  • Actively listen to customers to determine their concerns and identify preventative maintenance needs
  • Obtain and record accurate customer and vehicle data
  • Advise customers on the care of their cars and the value of maintaining their vehicles in accordance with manufacturers’ specifications, using maintenance menus and the dealer management system
  • Address manufacturer warranty and recall concerns in accordance with manufacturer policy and procedures
  • Ensure that all documents are accounted for and signed as required
  • Provide and communicate estimates for labor and parts to the customer
  • Establish “time promised” and communicate any deviations in a proactive manner
  • Follow up with progress of repair and any changes
  • Compare final invoice with original repair order
  • Achieve and maintain manufacturer certifications
  • Achieve and maintain ASE certification
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked mobile service vehicle.
  • Provide excellent customer service, ensuring a positive and convenient experience.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Understand and follow federal, state, and local regulations such as those concerning the disposal of hazardous wastes, OSHA right-to-know, etc.
  • Deliver vehicle to customer and answer any questions
  • Be responsible for quality control, to ensure that work is completed as requested and to reduce comebacks
  • Relating positively and courteously with diverse groups of people (customers, visitors, and staff)
  • All other duties as assigned
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:
  • Fast-paced environment
  • Mobile Service Technicians must be comfortable working in all weather conditions including heat, rain, ice, snow, and may also be exposed to fumes and loud noises
  • Ability to work weekends
  • Ability to stand, sit and kneel for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds

  • $800 a week salary, with commission opportunity.
