About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Director of Nursing and Quality Assurance to oversee and support multiple facilities, ensuring the highest level of patient care and regulatory compliance. The Director of Nursing and Quality Assurance will be responsible for providing clinical oversight, leadership, and operational support to multiple skilled nursing facilities. This role requires an experienced RN leader with a deep understanding of long-term care operations, regulatory compliance, and clinical best practices. The ideal candidate will be an influential mentor who can assess, stabilize, and optimize nursing departments while supporting and developing facility-level clinical leadership.

Role Overview & Key Responsibilities

The Director of Nursing and Quality Assurance provides interim Director of Nursing leadership in centers experiencing DON vacancies or transitions, ensuring continuity of clinical oversight, regulatory compliance, and safe, effective care delivery. This role holds full DON authority while assigned and partners closely with Regional Nursing leadership to stabilize operations and advance clinical performance.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Serving as Interim Director of Nursing, with accountability for nursing operations, staffing, competencies, and clinical outcomes during vacancies or transitions
  • Providing hands-on clinical leadership to nursing teams, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards, policies, and evidence-based practice
  • Supporting survey readiness and response, including corrective action planning, staff education, and on-site leadership during surveys
  • Leading clinical operations stabilization, identifying risk areas and implementing immediate and sustainable improvements
  • Partnering with Regional Nurses and Operations leaders to align center-level execution with organizational standards and priorities
  • Supporting targeted clinical projects and initiatives that strengthen care delivery, quality outcomes, and consistency across centers
  • Travel extensively to support facilities, including overnight stays and extended periods at assigned locations.
 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • RN Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Current, active, and unencumbered RN license in the assigned state(s); state-specific licensing is not required for support roles where the individual is not acting as a facility DON.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of management or supervisory experience in long-term care or acute care settings.
  • Experience in restorative or geriatric nursing is preferred.
  • Proven leadership and performance management experience with the ability to drive clinical excellence.
  • Current CPR certification is required.
  • Ability to travel extensively, including overnight stays and extended assignments at multiple facilities.
  • Must be qualified, compassionate, and dedicated to delivering exceptional healthcare outcomes.
