Job Description:

At Regions, the Software Engineer Manager oversees application development for a large or complex department within the company. This role manages strategy development to ensure the application portfolio meets current business requirements and is operational, stable, reliable, and technically mature.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manages all aspects of system design, development, deployment, acquisition, and ongoing maintenance for all application systems within areas of responsibility
  • Serves as the primary technology contact for senior management from all areas of the organization in developing technology solutions that increase the efficiency of internal business functions, resolves business problems, and supports the pursuit of business opportunities for areas of responsibility
  • Creates and refines operational processes and systems to ensure effective regulatory and audit compliance
  • Applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop, and verify basic lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions
  • Evaluates customer and operational needs to define system performance requirements, integrates technical parameters, and ensures compatibility of all interfaces
  • Supports the planning, organization, implementation, and monitoring of requirements through management processes
  • Partners across Technology, Operations, Digital, and Data (TODD) to ensure controls are designed, implemented, and monitored to strengthen risk management, compliance, and cyber security, effectively mitigating risk to levels within the company’s risk appetite
  • Ensures disciplined change management by evaluating risk and control impacts when designing or implementing changes to processes, systems, products, and/or services

This position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.

This position is incentive eligible.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Eight (8) years of relevant experience, of which two (2) years must be in a supervisory/managerial capacity

Preferences

  • Experience in a Technology role in banking or a financial services industry

Skills and Competencies

  • Ability to manage multiple projects
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and conceptual skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Understanding of and ability to interpret applicable rules, regulations, and industry guidance
  • Strong understanding of native iOS development using Swift and SwiftUI

  • Strong understanding of native Android development using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose

  • Experience guiding teams through mobile architecture patterns (MVVM, Clean Architecture, modularization)

  • Familiarity with:

  • Mobile CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Harness, etc.)

  • App Store / Play Store release processes

  • Feature flagging and staged rollouts

  • Experience with mobile security concepts, including secure storage, encryption, authentication, and API integration

  • Ability to review code, guide design decisions, and coach engineers—even if not writing production code daily

  • Prior experience in banking, fintech, or other regulated environments preferred

  • Exposure to accessibility standards for mobile apps

This position is intended to be onsite, now or in the near future. Associates will have regular work hours, including full days in the office three or more days a week.  The manager will set the work schedule for this position, including in-office expectations.  Regions will not provide relocation assistance for this position, and relocation would be at your expense. The locations available for this role are Birmingham, AL, Atlanta, GA or Charlotte, NC.

Compensation Details

Pay ranges are job specific and are provided as a point-of-market reference for compensation decisions. Other factors which directly impact pay for individual associates include: experience, skills, knowledge, contribution, job location and, most importantly, performance in the job role. As these factors vary by individuals, pay will also vary among individual associates within the same job.

The target information listed below is based on the Metropolitan Statistical Area Market Range for where the position is located and level of the position.

Incentive Pay Plans:

This role is eligible to participate in the annual discretionary incentive plan. Employees are eligible to receive a discretionary award based on individual, business, and/or company performance.Opportunity to participate in the Long Term Incentive Plan.
