HyperX Product Manager, Controllers (Specialist)
Description -
Gaming controllers are having a real moment. Between PC gaming growth, Xbox and PlayStation ecosystems, Switch, handheld gaming, Hall Effect sticks, pro-style customization, wireless latency, software tuning, and players expecting more from every input device, this category needs someone who actually understands where the market is going and why it matters.
This role will help shape the future of HyperX controllers globally. We are looking for a product manager who cares about gaming, understands controller users, can read the competitive landscape, and can turn real player needs into thoughtful product decisions. This person will work closely with engineering, design, R&D, sourcing, operations, regional teams, and commercial partners to define products that feel good, perform well, make sense for the business, and earn their place in a very competitive market.
Responsibilities
  • Shapes and refines the global PSS strategy, roadmaps, platforms, and SKU plans for the controller category in collaboration with R&D and solutions teams, ensuring alignment with market needs, customer insights, and business goals.
  • Conducts closed-loop post-analysis of global PSS strategies, evaluates effectiveness, and makes data-driven recommendations for improvement.
  • Represents the voice of the customer by analyzing user needs, preferences, market trends, and competitive insights to inform product definition and category direction.
  • Develops product requirements, briefs, and recommendations that translate customer and market insight into actionable roadmap decisions.
  • Provides subject matter expertise and strategic support to sales efforts directed toward end users and partners.
  • Determines and helps lead effective product, service, and solution introduction processes to support successful regional launches.
  • Provides recommendations to support forecasting activities and product availability planning, working closely with cross-functional teams.
  • Supports product lifecycle planning by providing category recommendations and cross-functional input on transitions, timing, and product change decisions in partnership with central category teams.
  • Partners closely with engineering, design, sourcing, operations, and commercial teams to guide products from concept through launch.
  • Helps identify portfolio gaps, platform opportunities, and areas for future category growth across key customer segments and use cases.
  • Solves difficult and complex problems with a fresh perspective, demonstrating sound judgment, creative thinking, and the ability to manage projects independently.

Education & Experience Recommended
  • Four-year or Graduate Degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or a related discipline, or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.
  • Typically 4-7 years of work experience, preferably in product management, product marketing, product design, consumer electronics, gaming peripherals, or a related field, or an advanced degree with 3-5 years of work experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of gaming controller ecosystems across Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, PC, mobile, and handheld gaming.
  • Understanding of controller hardware and software trends, including Hall Effect sticks, wireless latency, ergonomics, battery performance, back buttons, modularity, firmware, and customization.
  • Strong commercial and category instincts, including portfolio ladders, pricing, margin, retailer expectations, and competitive benchmarking.
  • Ability to turn enthusiast feedback, customer insight, and market data into product decisions that can serve broader gaming audiences.
  • Technical fluency and comfort working with engineering, sourcing, quality, firmware, software, and development teams.
  • Strong product management discipline with experience operating cross-functionally in a matrixed organization.

The pay range for this role is $83,000 to $127,800 USD annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity (applies to United States of America candidates only). Pay varies by work location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
