Responsibilities 

This role will initially focus on establishing our mobile development pipeline and launching the RTINGS.com mobile application MVP for iOS and Android using Hotwire Native.
  • Develop the RTINGS mobile application using Hotwire Native, delivering a native app experience built on top of our existing Rails and Turbo web platform
  • Build native screens and bridge components where a web-based experience isn't sufficient. 
  • Collaborate closely with the Head of Product and the Rails/backend team to rapidly deliver and refine a compelling mobile experience
  • Work closely with the development team to ensure web views, APIs, and shared platform capabilities perform well within the native shell
  • Make pragmatic engineering decisions, balancing speed of delivery with long-term maintainability
  • Publish, monitor, and maintain releases on the Apple App Store and Google Play
  • Troubleshoot production issues and continuously improve application stability, performance, and user experience

Qualification/Experience 

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer/Software Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent
  • 3-5 years of professional experience in Rails, full-stack, or mobile development
  • Professional experience with Ruby on Rails, particularly Hotwire (Turbo and Stimulus), is required
  • Experience with Hotwire Native (formerly Turbo Native), or strong ability to ramp up on it quickly, is highly valued
  • Experience developing native iOS and/or Android applications (Swift/SwiftUI, Kotlin/Jetpack Compose), enough to build native bridge components and platform-specific features
  • Experience publishing and maintaining applications on the Apple App Store and Google Play is an asset
  • Experience integrating third-party SDKs and mobile platform services (e.g., push notifications, authentication, analytics) is an asset
  • Experience with GraphQL is an asset
  • Fast learner with strong problem-solving skills
