Job description

Description The Montgomery County Department of Parks has Seasonal part-time opportunities located in the Southern and Northern Region park locations. Work hours are varied and may include evenings, nights and weekends. Applicants must be at least 16 years of age.

Southern Region Park Locations: The Southern Region encompasses the southern portion of Montgomery County: Cabin John Regional Park, Wheaton Regional, Meadowbrook Maintenance Facility and Martin Luther King, Jr. Recreational Park. Northern Region Park Locations: The Northern Region encompasses the northern portion of Montgomery County: Little Bennett Regional Park, Black Hill Regional Park, Shady Grove, Rock Creek Regional Park, Olney Manor Recreational Park, and South Germantown Recreational Park.

Examples of Important Duties The following opportunities are available: Maintenance Worker I/Program Facility Aide II ($15.45/hour - $15.52/hour) Under close supervision, and with on-the-job training, performs, park/general maintenance work involving some responsibility, complexity, and variety. This is a seasonal position performing general grounds maintenance and routine building maintenance at parks, park buildings, and other Commission sites. Operates various hand tools, push mowers, and small riding mowers

Performs custodial maintenance in Commission buildings and performs maintenance on athletic fields and other park amenities. Performs work of increasing difficulty and responsibility to develop and improve skills. Performs other related duties as assigned.

May be required to drive Commission vehicles upon completion of Defensive Driving training. Maintenance Worker II/Program Facility Aide III ($15.45/hour - $15.52/hour) Performs general and some skilled park maintenance work involving moderate responsibility, complexity, and variety. Performs general grounds maintenance and routine building maintenance at parks, park buildings, and other sites

Operates a variety of equipment (for example, trucks, tractors with attachments, riding mowers). This is park general maintenance work at the experienced level, involving operation of most equipment and specialized assignments requiring training and experience. Incumbents of this class regularly perform assignments as part of a group, but may occasionally work alone.

Performs other related duties as assigned. May be required to drive Commission vehicles upon completion of Defensive Driving training. Data Entry Specialist/Program Facility Manager Aide II ($15.45/hour - $16.00/hour) Under general supervision, this is a seasonal position that performs responsible and varied data entry work involving some responsibility, complexity, and variety

Performs related clerical and/or technical work as required. Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - No experience or training is necessary except for specialized skills (for example typing) or licenses/certificates (for example, Red Cross Life Saving Certificate) that are directly related to the job. Supplemental Information May be subject to medical, drug and alcohol testing.
