Patient Services Representative, PSR
Pay: $18/hr
Location: Remote, U.S.

Are you passionate about helping patients navigate the healthcare system and making a meaningful difference in their experience? We are seeking an experienced Patient Services Representative, PSR to provide high-level support to patients, healthcare providers, and caregivers participating in manufacturer-sponsored patient support programs.
This is an excellent opportunity for a healthcare customer service professional with experience in medical claims, insurance benefits, prior authorizations, reimbursement, billing, or patient access services who thrives in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment.
What You'll Do
As a Patient Services Representative, you will serve as a knowledgeable resource for patients, providers, and caregivers, helping them navigate complex healthcare coverage and reimbursement processes.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Provide advanced support to patients, healthcare providers, and caregivers
  • Assist with medical billing and coding questions
  • Provide claims assistance, tracking, and submission support
  • Assist with prior authorizations and authorization tracking
  • Coordinate insurance benefits and communicate benefit verification results
  • Conduct patient welcome calls and provide ongoing program support
  • Research alternate insurance and coverage options
  • Assist with appeals, denials, and reimbursement-related issues
  • Identify payer trends, claim denials, billing issues, pricing errors, payment delays, and other reimbursement challenges
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external service providers to ensure services meet established Service Level Agreements, SLAs
  • Process required correspondence and maintain accurate documentation
  • Handle patient information with the highest level of confidentiality
  • Work independently from assigned phone and system queues while meeting established productivity and quality expectations
  • Analyze moderately complex issues and determine appropriate action using established procedures
  • Support additional program services, including benefit verifications and patient assistance program determinations
  • Document and report adverse events as directed
  • Provide exceptional customer service while resolving requests accurately and efficiently
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 4+ years of directly related, progressively responsible experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • A two-year degree may substitute for two years of required experience
  • A four-year degree may substitute for four years of required experience
  • Strong experience working with patients, healthcare providers, insurance companies, claims, reimbursement, or related healthcare services
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively from established queues
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Basic analytical skills and strong mathematical aptitude
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word
Preferred Knowledge & Experience
Candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas are strongly encouraged to apply:

Education & Experience
Additional training or education in business administration, accounting, computer science, medical billing and coding, healthcare, customer service, or a related discipline is highly valued. Relevant technical or vocational training may also be considered as part of the overall experience requirement.
Work Environment
This position operates in a professional office environment and requires extensive computer and telephone use. Approximately 75% or more of the workday may be spent working directly on a computer.
The role is primarily sedentary and requires regular reaching, grasping, repetitive hand and finger movements, talking, hearing, and visual focus. Candidates must also be comfortable managing challenging or stressful situations while maintaining professionalism and accuracy.
