About the Role

MLK Community Medical Group (MLK CMG) seeks a dynamic and mission-driven Medical Director to lead our team of around 40 multi-specialty and primary care providers across three outpatient clinics. As part of the MLK Community Healthcare's senior leadership team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the delivery of healthcare to one of Los Angeles most underserved communities.

This is an exciting opportunity for a physician-leader who thrives in both clinical practice and strategic administration. The role offers the unique balance of hands-on patient care with oversight of provider performance, quality initiatives, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Administration (70%)

  • Provide clinical and administrative leadership to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care.
  • Oversee provider performance, quality assurance, and patient satisfaction metrics.
  • Direct and support clinic operations in alignment with MLK Community Hospital (MLKCH) and MLK Community Medical Group (MLK CMG)s strategic goals.
  • Develop and implement policies, workflows, and clinical practice guidelines.
  • Participate in provider recruitment, onboarding, and retention efforts.
  • Participate in the development and management of the annual budget, promoting financial sustainability and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with hospital leadership on initiatives that improve integration and patient throughput.
  • Serve as a liaison between clinical teams and senior leadership, promoting transparency, collaboration, and accountability.
  • Contribute to EHR optimization and other health IT initiatives that enhance care coordination, provider satisfaction, and data accuracy.
  • Serve as a site director for medical student rotations.

Clinical (30%)

  • Provide direct patient care in a team-based setting (average 20 patients per day).
  • Participate in telemedicine, post-discharge, and walk-in clinic services.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation.
  • Engage in teaching and mentoring activities as appropriate.

Qualifications

  • Board Certified in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Med-Peds.
  • Minimum 5 years of clinical leadership experience (Medical Director or equivalent) overseeing 15+ providers.
  • Demonstrated success in quality improvement, performance metrics, and operational leadership.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to lead through influence and collaboration.
  • Commitment to serving an underserved patient population.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive salary: $360,000 $400,000 (DOE)
  • Sign-on bonus: 5% of annual salary
  • Performance bonus: Up to 12% annually
