Primary Responsibilities: 

Responsible for the order, cleanliness and safety of the beach and lawn area. Attend and service the guests at the beach and lawn according to resort standards and provide a warm greeting and set up of beach/lawn chairs, umbrellas, cabanas, and towels. Inform guests of the Hotel’s Ocean Awareness Program and services available at the beach and lawn. Assist the Attendants in responding to emergencies following hotel procedures. Responsible for expediting POS and cash handling at the beach club. Responsible for the Keiki Club program and cultural activities. Assist with beach duties as directed by the Director of Activities, Assistant Activities & Beach Manager, and/or Beach Manager.

 

Essential Job Duties:

  • Inspect the beach area daily and rectify all safety hazards or faulty equipment; report equipment in need of repair and complete work orders.
  • Set-up beach/lawn chaise lounges, umbrellas with augers, and tables daily on the beach using the proper equipment.
  • Push towel bins to and from the loading dock, to and from the towel shack for guest usage, for both the beach and pool.
  • Greet and welcome guests in a warm and friendly manner when they arrive to the beach and offer assistance according to Hotel standards.
  • Issue towels, lawn games and any other amenities as per Hotel standards.
  • Inform all guests of the Hotel’s Ocean Awareness Program.
  • Advise and enforce Hotel Safety Rules on use of the beach and its equipment.
  • Maintain a proper supply of towels and supplies.
  • Pick-up towels and keep the beach and lawn areas, to include areas fronting guest rooms, tidy and orderly throughout the day.
  • Observe guests at the beach, responding to concerns and emergencies according to Hotel procedures.
  • Clean beach/lawn chaise lounges, umbrellas, and tables daily from the beach using proper equipment at start of shift and end of shift.
  • Assist with beach and lawn duties to include but not limited to : setting up umbrellas, breaking down umbrellas, chairs, cabanas, raking of the beach, etc.
  • Instruct guests on correct use of beach equipment.
  • Assist USLA certified Lifeguards on the beach in emergency situations according to Hotel procedures.
  • Know all safety policies, procedures and standards.
  • Offer amenities and other services to guests.
  • Perform job duties following POS cash handling procedures as according to Hotel and corporate standards.
  • Perform all cultural and craft activities offered at the beach.
  • Perform all duties of a certified Keiki Club Host
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or required by Director of Activities, Assistant Activities & Beach Manager and/or Beach Manager.

Secondary Job Functions:

  • May perform minor repair on beach equipment, beach chairs, cabanas, etc.
  • Transport clean/dirty towels to and from loading dock and/or housekeeping.
  • Assist with monthly or quarterly inventories.
  • Order and pick up supplies from storeroom, main kitchen, or housekeeping when necessary.
  • Assist with special programs such as shite inspections, photo shoots, children’s programs, group events, etc as sponsored by the hotel.
  • Servicing guest on the beach with complimentary amenities, to include assorted fruits and all other complimentary amenities.
  • Perform the daily ritual of lighting the tiki torch and blowing of the conch shell.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or required.

Working Conditions:

  • Works outdoors in the sun and other weather conditions
  • Bright reflection of the water in the ocean or beach
  • May need to enter the water for assists or cleaning purposes.

Work Hours:

  • Must be able to work shifts and days determined by the manager, daytime hours until sunset or later for special events.
  • Must be able to work in excess of 40 hours per week if needed due to business or available staffing.

  • Law, beach chairs, umbrellas, and cabanas
  • Telephone and radio

Mental and Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to work in the sun and outdoors for most of shift
  • Must be able to enter the ocean or pool in rescue situations using AED, First Aid, First Responder training.
  • Must be able to handle stressful situations.
  • Must be a strong swimmer
  • Must be able to lift up to 25lbs – the equivalent of 5 umbrellas at once.
  • Must be able to walk in sand carrying and pulling chairs to assist attendants.
  • Must be able to carry and anchor umbrellas in sand to assist attendants.
  • Must be able to push/pull laundry carts with towels weighing 50lb or more.
  • Must be able to stand and walk while on duty.

Communication Demands:

  • Must be able to verbally communicate the Ocean Awareness Program and other information to guests.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with appropriate resort employees and rescue personnel in emergencies over the phone, radio, and in person.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

  • First Aid/CPR Certified/AED Certified
  • Health Department TB Clearance if serving food and beverage items.
  • DHS licensing for Kids Programs to include fingerprinting, HS Diploma, references, and employment history.
  • Must be pleasant, smiling and friendly to all guests.
