Job description

The Youth Ministry Coordinator will support and encourage the vision, strategy, and model of the TFCA youth ministry. They will plan, coordinate, and deliver a Christ-centered relevant program that meets the needs of the middle school and high school students within the context of the church's youth ministry, with the aim of bringing students to faith in Jesus Christ and into growth and service as believers. They will work closely to support the Youth Ministry Director and Assistant Directors on their programs, events, goals, and plans. They will develop and lead strong adult volunteer leaders ("The Youth Family") to effectively disciple the students. They will work to disciple and evangelize the middle and high school students. The will plan and carry out special events. They will help maximize the effective use of resources and track ministry results, as well as assist in leading trips, programs, and other youth ministry events.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Ministry activities:
  • Plan and coordinate ministry activities and programs.
  • Give spiritual development to the students in TFCA's ministry, embracing the vision and philosophy of the ministry.
  • Assist with programs like Core, Bible study, and Sunday school.
  • Develop a core group of student leaders to be disciples of Jesus Christ and to disciple others.
  • Help develop an outreach ministry to youth in the Falls Church community and teach at youth programs.
  • Lead a discipleship group (Bible Breakfast), thus developing the small group ministry.
  • Develop effective communication for students and leaders.
  • Assist in supervision of the Fellows assigned to Youth Ministry.
  • Develop positive relationships and good communication with the parents of the youth.
  • Develop specific goals with supervisor.
  • Manage receipts and documentation for ministry expenses and handle them according to church procedures.
  • Travel for planned ministry retreats and special trips of up to 5 weekends and two weeks per year.

Relational Ministry
  • Intentionally reach out to students and leaders to build Godly relationships with them that lead to deeper discipleship. This requires 2-3 evenings per week to be out with students, leaders, or both.

Volunteer Coordination
  • Recruit, develop, and coordinate a team of adult volunteer leaders, building them closer to Christ and developing their skills for effective youth work.

Teamwork
  • Participate as an active part of the Youth Ministry team under the supervision of the Director.
  • Suggest new ideas to enhance ministry.
  • Actively assist with ministry problem-solving.
  • Attend church staff meetings and worship, building good working relationships.

Position Requirements:
  • Spiritually and emotionally mature Christian of sound character
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional working experience with proven strengths in time management, and multi-tasking
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field of study
  • Demonstrated excellent communication experience and skills
  • Strong interpersonal, empathy, and conflict resolution skills
  • Satisfactory background
  • Commitment to upholding and supporting the mission of TFCA.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to diverse environments.
