Job description

Position Title: Mining Engineer โ€“ Strategic Mining Solutions (United States & Canada)

Location: Flexible (Preferred: Western U.S.) with extensive travel throughout North America

ASGCO Manufacturing, Inc. is seeking an experienced, customer-focused Mining Engineer to serve as the company's technical mining expert supporting major surface and underground mining operations throughout the United States and Canada. This individual will work directly with mine management, engineering teams, maintenance departments, and operations personnel to identify opportunities that improve conveyor system reliability, increase production, reduce maintenance costs, and enhance safety.

The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of mine operations, crushing and conveying systems, material handling, and mineral processing while acting as a trusted advisor to some of North America's largest mining companies.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Serve as ASGCO's primary mining engineering resource for strategic mining accounts.
  • Develop executive-level relationships with mine managers, corporate engineering teams, maintenance managers, and reliability engineers.
  • Conduct complete conveyor system assessments and identify opportunities for operational improvements.
  • Analyze conveyor performance, belt tracking, spillage, dust generation, carryback, wear patterns, and transfer point efficiency.
  • Recommend engineered solutions utilizing ASGCO's complete product portfolio.
  • Perform Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) on conveyor-related failures.
  • Develop mine-specific reliability improvement plans.
  • Lead conveyor optimization projects from concept through implementation.
  • Assist customers with conveyor design reviews and equipment selection.
  • Work alongside consulting engineering firms and EPC companies during project development.
  • Support installation, commissioning, and startup of major conveyor systems.
  • Deliver technical presentations, lunchโ€‘andโ€‘learn sessions, and customer training seminars.
  • Represent ASGCO at mining conferences, trade shows, and industry associations.
  • Collaborate with ASGCO's engineering, sales, manufacturing, and product development teams.
  • Identify opportunities for new products based on customer feedback and mining trends.
Knowledge and skills required for the position are:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering (required).
  • 5+ years of mining engineering experience.
  • Experience with large-scale bulk material handling systems.
  • Strong understanding of conveyor belts, pulleys, idlers, belt cleaners, transfer points, dust control, and belt tracking.
  • Experience in mine planning and production environments.
  • Ability to analyze equipment reliability and maintenance data.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to travel approximately 50-70% throughout the U.S. and Canada.
