Do you have heavy equipment operation experience and a strong commitment to workplace safety? We are hiring an Equipment Operator for our Colorado Aggregates team. If you’re ready to bring your skills not only in operating excavators, dozers, and loaders but also in performing routine equipment maintenance to keep operations running smoothly, we want to hear from you!

As a skilled equipment operator, you will play a critical role in safely executing excavation and material handling operations to meet production and safety goals. You will lead daily mining activities, operate heavy equipment, perform routine maintenance, and ensure compliance with industry safety standards – all while collaborating closely with your team to support smooth, efficient operations.

What you will be doing

  • Lead the mining team to meet operational goals set by the Plant Manager
  • Safely load aggregate materials onto haul trucks
  • Perform dirt moving and stripping tasks as needed
  • Conduct routine inspections, fueling, greasing, and fluid refills on equipment
  • Complete minor maintenance and promptly report any safety or mechanical issues
  • Use hand tools and operate equipment to meet daily operational needs
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment through regular housekeeping and maintenance activities
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve daily production priorities and cross-train in other positions as needed
  • Adhere to all MSHA and company safety regulations
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What we would like from you

  • 3–5 years’ experience operating heavy equipment, including excavators, dozers, blades, and front-end loaders
  • Background in the aggregate or mining industry is a strong asset
  • History of working with power tools, welders, cutting torches, chains, and necessary safety devices
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in small teams with a self-motivated, productive attitude
  • Basic mechanical and math skills, plus the ability to conduct minor repairs and routine equipment maintenance
  • Comfortable with 12-hour shifts and weekend work as required
  • Experience operating heavy equipment in a plant environment preferred
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent is preferred

Location and other key details:

  • This is a full-time permanent field-based position at our Jeffco Location, 20855 Westgate Road Golden, CO.
  • This is a safety sensitive position, offers of employment are conditional on successful completion of fitness for duty assessments, including drug and alcohol screening and a criminal background check
  • Position involves working 12-hour shifts with weekend hours as necessary
  • Travel to various job sites required as needed, less than 10%
  • Regular outdoor work with exposure to a range of weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow
  • Frequent sitting and use of fine motor skills such as manual dexterity, hand / eye coordination, and active hearing and vision  
  • Occasional standing, walking, climbing, crawling, kneeling, bending, reaching, lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs, and pushing or pulling as needed
  • Regular exposure to loud noises, heavy machinery, moving equipment, oil, debris, solvents, smoke, gases, fumes, and aggregate materials
  • Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety shoes, vests, and glasses, ear plugs, and hard hats, with additional PPE for tasks like welding or repairs
