Job description

Under the supervision of the Mining Engineering Superintendent, you will report to the Technical Services Department. As a Senior Mining Engineer, you will be at the heart of Agnico Eagle's strategic evolution by participating in the development of various projects through the estimation of mining reserves, the development of mining methods, detailed mine planning, economic evaluation and the production of Long Term Mine Plans (LOM). Using your leadership and experience, you will support the various divisions of Agnico Eagle. You will participate in innovative projects, support the implementation and use of software. You will work on open pit and underground projects, located in various regions or countries.

Do you dream of being involved in the design of mines from start-up to production?ย  The Mining Engineering Group offers you the unique opportunity to be a "Discipline Lead" and to bring forward your professional skills within a dynamic and professional team.

  • Elaborate mining concepts and LOM of various mining projects in development or extension phase;

  • Optimize mining plans to ensure worker safety, identify the best mining approach and thereby achieve profitability in various projects;

  • Participate in project evaluations with the goal of potentially acquiring new properties;

  • Participate in the economic evaluation (OPEX & Cashflow) of various projects or mining potential for underground and open pit operations;

  • Participate in innovation and digital transformation projects;

  • Participate in the writing of technical studies (PEA, PFS and FS in the NI 43-101 format);

  • Participate in the evaluation of resources and reserves of various projects or mining potentials;

  • Evaluate and optimize various aspects of operations: ventilation, drilling & blasting, ground control, loading & hauling, equipment selection.

  • University degree in mining engineering;

  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in mining primarily in open pit;

  • Underground mining experience will be considered as a major asset;

  • Membership in a professional order (e.g. OIQ);

  • Ability to use mine design and planning software such as Deswik and Datamine;

  • Knowledge of simulation software such as HaulSim and VentSim would be an asset;

  • Available to travel to various Agnico Eagle sites occasionally;

  • Fluent in English, oral and written;

  • Speaking French and Spanish is a major asset.

Your Work Schedule:

  • Schedule: 40 hours per week, from Monday to Friday, with a possibility of 5-2/4-3 schedule;

  • Workplace: Possibility to work in one of Agnico Eagle's offices closer to your residence in Rouyn-Noranda, Val-d'Or, Mirabel, Sudbury or Toronto. There is a possibility to have a hybrid work schedule, working some days from an Agnico Eagle office and some days in telecommuting.
