Reporting to the Mining Sector Manager, the Senior Mid-Term Planning Engineer will play a central role in developing, maintaining, and optimizing the 1- to 3-year mining plan for the Windfall project. He or she will ensure the production of a mid-term plan that bridges long-term and short-term planning.ย  He or she will develop detailed mining plans to align development and production activities with the mine's strategic objectives, while adapting to changes in resource models and operational priorities. Based in the Montreal office, he or she will work a schedule of 5 workdays followed by 2 days off. He will be required to make occasional visits to the mine site during the project execution phase (3 years).

At the end of the project phase, the candidate will join the technical services department and will transition to a 7-7 or 14-14 rotation schedule.

Duties and responsibilitiesย

Lead the development of 1- to 3-year rolling forecasts, including mining plans, schedules, and production forecasts that support operational execution and corporate objectives;

Integrate short-term planning with medium- and long-term planning to eliminate inconsistencies;

Integrate infrastructure requirements into the medium-term plan and ensure consistency among short-, medium-, and long-term mining plans;

Work closely with production, geology, and engineering teams to ensure adherence to the mining plan and provide technical support to operations, construction, and technical services;

Conduct scenario analyses and comparative studies to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and optimization of the mining plan;

Contribute to monthly reports, variance analysis, and budgeting activities;

Supervise and mentor junior planning engineers. Support senior engineers by actively participating in site-wide initiatives;

Generate the schedule of underground activities (excavation, production, construction, and others) in Deswik, MS Project, and other formats;

Monitor, in collaboration with the mining department, compliance with execution plans;

Provide visible leadership and promote a culture of safety;

Participate in the evaluation, analysis, and recommendation of process improvements;

When required, make presentations to members of management or other stakeholders to track the progress of work;

Comply at all times with occupational health and safety and environmental policies and rules (and ensure that staff comply with these rules);

Perform any other duties related to the position of medium-term planning engineer that are relevant to the project's success.



Required qualifications

Hold a university degree in mining engineering or geological engineering;

Be a member of the Ordre des ingenieurs du Quebec (OIQ);

Have at least ten (10) years of relevant experience in the mining industry;

Have a good command of French and a good knowledge of English;

Hold a valid Class 5 driver's license;

Have completed Mining Modules (FMTM) 1-2-3-4-5 and 7 (preferred);

Hold a valid explosives permit.



Technical skills

Have knowledge of the various processes in accordance with industry standards;

Be proficient in the Deswik suite;

Knowledge of Ventsim and AutoCAD software (a plus);

Have a good understanding of the laws and regulations applicable to mining sites in Quebec.
