Job Summary:
The School Age Childcare Teacher in a school-age program is responsible for planning and implementing an enriching program for the children. In addition to insuring the safety of each child, the School Age Childcare Teacher is expected to provide a warm, comfortable environment, which reflects ABC Careรขโ‚ฌ's philosophy regarding school-age childcare. The School Age Childcare Teacher should be capable of managing a group of children unsupervised when necessary.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Develop relationships with staff, children, families and host school
  • Develop age-appropriate lesson plans
  • Knowledgeable in problem solving and conflict resolution techniques and the process of teaching these concepts to children

Qualifications:
  • Age 19 years or older
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Willing to take CPR and First Aid class
  • Willing to take college courses (if necessary to become School Age Child Care Teacher (SACCT) qualified)
  • Willing to take continuing education classes
  • Must be able to bend at a 45 degree angle, must be able to lift 30 lbs, must be able to twist body both left and right, must be able to sit on the ground and get up successfully without assistance of another person, must be able to squat, must be able to stand a minimum of 4 hours, must be able to walk up and down stairs.
  • Having a drivers license to be able to get from one center to another in a timely manner is preferred.
  • One 3-credit class (45 clock hours) on child development
  • One 3-credit class (45 clock hours) on school age level curriculum
  • One of the following:
    • 400 hours or more of experience working under supervision primarily with school age children in a licensed center, public or private school or in recreation and parks or similar setting; or
    • A combination of college that includes six semester hours of approved training and experiences that equal one year
