Job description

JOB PURPOSE:

The CBP Workforce Wellness Program (WWP) is seeking a Wellness Coach to provide holistic well-being support, stress management coaching, and resilience-building strategies for Customs and Border Protection (CBP) personnel and their families.

The Wellness Coach will focus on mental and emotional well-being, stress reduction, mindfulness, and work-life balance, aligning with the Endeavors Wellness Model. This role aims to help clients develop sustainable wellness habits, improve emotional resilience, and enhance overall quality of life through personalized coaching, group sessions, and wellness education.

The Wellness Coach will collaborate closely with the Health Coach and Fitness Coach to ensure a comprehensive and integrated approach to workforce wellness.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Develop and facilitate individual and group wellness coaching sessions, focusing on stress management, emotional resilience, and well-being.
  • Utilize motivational interviewing and positive psychology techniques to guide clients toward sustainable lifestyle changes.
  • Lead wellness workshops and educational sessions on topics such as:

  • Mindfulness and meditation techniques
  • Work-life balance strategies
  • Emotional intelligence and coping mechanisms
  • Self-care and relaxation practices

  • Implement mindfulness-based interventions, including guided meditation, breathing exercises, and stress-reduction techniques.
  • Provide one-on-one coaching to help clients identify stressors, set wellness goals, and develop action plans.
  • Promote holistic wellness approaches, incorporating mental, emotional, environmental, and social well-being.
  • Coordinate with external entities to enhance wellness programming, workshops, and events.
  • Maintain accurate client records and track progress, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with professional standards.
  • Provide resources and referrals for additional wellness-related support when needed.
  • Work collaboratively with the Fitness Coach to incorporate movement-based stress reduction and the Health Coach to support overall well-being.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:  

Certifications:

  • Certified Wellness Coach (CWC) – Preferred
  • Well coaches® Certification – Preferred
  • National Board-Certified Health & Wellness Coach (NBC-HWC) – Preferred
  • Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Certification – Highly desirable
  • CPR and First Aid Certification – Required

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (Psychology, Social Work, Health Coaching, Behavioral Science, Public Health) preferred, or equivalent relevant experience.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum two years of experience in wellness coaching, stress management, or mindfulness coaching.
  • Experience working with first responders, military personnel, or high-stress occupations is strongly preferred.
  • Background in mindfulness practices, emotional resilience training, or holistic wellness strategies is highly desirable.

WORK LOCATION: CBP WWP Office

LICENSES: Valid Driver’s License; must pass a criminal background check.
