Position Summary 

The Control Room Operator (CRO) is responsible for monitoring and controlling aggregate plant operations from a centralized control system. This role plays a critical part in maintaining a safe work environment by ensuring all plant processes operate within established safety, environmental, and operational standards while achieving efficient and continuous production.

Safety is the top priority in this role, and the CRO is accountable for proactively identifying hazards, responding to abnormal conditions, and coordinating with plant personnel to prevent incidents and always ensure safe plant operation.

New Hire Orientation & Safety Training Requirement

All newly hired employees are required to attend New Hire Orientation and Safety Training in person at our Corporate Office located in Dallas, Texas. Attendance is mandatory and is a condition of employment.

To support employees traveling to attend training, mileage and approved travel expenses will be reimbursed for individuals whose commute to the Dallas Corporate Office exceeds 50 miles, in accordance with company travel and reimbursement policies. Additional details regarding travel arrangements and reimbursement procedures will be provided prior to the training date.

Requirements

  • Start, monitor, and regulate as needed plant processing equipment in a safe and efficient manner
  • Adjust equipment programming to maximize production
  • Answer incoming calls in a professional and courteous manner and direct calls as needed
  • Operate scales, Mapper system, weight trucks, and maintain accurate ticket records
  • Operate Rail Load out System and associated computerized billing system
  • Maintain daily shipping and production reports. Exchange daily information with others
  • Maintain load out area and operate mobile equipment as needed
  • Learn to safely operate mobile and plant equipment, including skid steer, front end loader, etc.
  • Conduct pre-shift equipment/plant inspections and complete required paperwork accurately
  • Follow federal, state, local, and safety rules, regulations, policies & procedures
  • Assist in plant operation and repairs to both mobile and plant equipment
  • Maintain housekeeping in areas of responsibility
  • Other duties as requested

 Minimum  Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in the industry preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Must have mathematical skills
  • Must be computer literate and have ability to learn new software
  • Must be able to communicate (written and verbal) effectively
  • Must be able to read, write and verbally communicate in the English language
  • Team oriented, able to work in a fast paced environment
  • Self-starter with ability to work with little or no supervision
  • Must be able to read and interpret gauges/dials and make competent decisions related to processing equipment
  • Must be able to work irregular shifts and work days/nights and weekends as required

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to perform duties in a safe manner.  This job requires the ability to wear a hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toed boots and hearing protection
  • Must be able to climb stairs to a height of 100 ft. and work at this height
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces
  • Ability to operate radio, CB radio, computer and other equipment as required.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, climb and reach around all areas of equipment.
  • Lift up to 25 lbs
  • Must be able to walk across steep/rough terrain
  • Ability to use hand tools such as shovels, wrenches, screwdrivers, etc.

Working Conditions

  • Must be able to work in areas where noise levels are up to 90 dbs.
  • Will work in varied environments (in all weather conditions heat, cold, wet, humid, dry and/or dusty conditions)
  • Exposure to cement, clay, limestone, shale, and other raw materials and various chemicals, solvents and lubricants
