Job description

Leidos is seeking a Senior Digital Modeling & Simulation Engineer to support the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) CG-TECH-TRT/DME (Technical Readiness Transformation) (Digitial Modeling and Engineering ) organization in advancing enterprise digital transformation, digital engineering, and automation initiatives aligned to the Coast Guard Digital Transformation Strategy and Force Design 2028.
The successful candidate will support enterprise-level digital modeling, mission engineering, systems analysis, and simulation activities to enable data-driven decision making, operational modernization, and future-state capability planning across Coast Guard mission and support functions. This role will work closely with Coast Guard stakeholders, enterprise architects, systems engineers, business process teams, data analysts, and program leadership to develop modeling approaches, evaluate tools and platforms, and support implementation planning for digital engineering capabilities within the CGOne environment.
This position requires strong analytical, technical, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to translate operational requirements into scalable digital models, simulation frameworks, and engineering recommendations supporting enterprise modernization efforts.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Support development and execution of Digital Transformation and Digital Engineering implementation plans for CG-TECH-TRT/DME.
  • Develop and maintain mission, process, operational, and system models supporting Coast Guard transformation initiatives.
  • Conduct modeling and simulation analyses to support operational planning, capability assessments, and modernization initiatives.
  • Support evaluation and selection of digital engineering, modeling, and simulation tools and platforms suitable for the CGOne environment.
  • Assist in development of enterprise architecture artifacts, system interaction models, digital workflows, and mission thread analyses.
  • Collaborate with business analysts and process improvement teams to translate operational workflows into simulation and modeling use cases.
  • Support feasibility assessments, pilot planning, and proof-of-concept activities for digital transformation initiatives.
  • Develop dashboards, performance metrics, and analytical products supporting program governance and executive decision making.
  • Support stakeholder engagement sessions, workshops, technical exchanges, and executive briefings with Coast Guard leadership.
  • Contribute to automation portfolio planning, digital transformation governance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain documentation repositories, technical artifacts, modeling standards, and lessons learned.
  • Coordinate with cybersecurity, cloud, data, and engineering teams to ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture and security requirements.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Engineering, Operations Research, Computer Science, Modeling & Simulation, Data Science, or related field and BS degree with 12-15 years , 10-13yrs with a Masters, Additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Experience supporting federal government, DHS or Coast Guard programs.
  • Experience with digital engineering, systems modeling, operational analysis, or simulation environments.
  • Experience developing enterprise architecture artifacts, process models, mission models, or systems integration documentation.
  • Strong understanding of systems engineering lifecycle methodologies and digital transformation principles.
  • Experience facilitating stakeholder engagements and translating mission requirements into technical solutions.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DHS Public Trust.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting U.S. Coast Guard mission systems or DHS enterprise initiatives.
  • Experience with MBSE tools such as Cameo, MagicDraw, Sparx EA, or similar platforms.
  • Experience with modeling frameworks such as DoDAF, UAF, SysML, BPMN, or UML.
  • Experience supporting cloud-enabled digital engineering environments.
  • Knowledge of automation technologies, AI/ML integration, or data analytics platforms.
