Electrical Hardware Engineer - Display Systems
Sterling Heights, MI
$53.56-$57.13/Hour
We are hiring an Electrical Hardware Engineer in Sterling Heights, MI, to support the design, development, integration, and qualification of advanced ruggedized display systems and Human Machine Interface (HMI) technologies for military ground combat vehicles. This role requires expertise in display electronics, LCD/OLED/LED technologies, embedded hardware development, video distribution systems, display metrology, ruggedized LRUs, and military hardware qualification supporting mission-critical defense platforms.
Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop electrical components and subsystems for ruggedized display products, including LCD, OLED, and LED technologies.
  • Lead hardware development activities, including requirements analysis, electronic design, debug, test, and qualification.
  • Create and maintain detailed circuit board specifications, LRU-level specifications, ICDs, and hardware test plans.
  • Support component selection, procurement, and oversight of prototype hardware builds.
  • Develop engineering design fixes and lead debug coordination and resolution efforts.
  • Contribute to advanced technology initiatives, IRADs, proposal development, and technology demonstrators.
  • Maintain thorough design documentation, change tracking, debug status, and revision control for hardware and software.
  • Apply expertise in display metrology, architecture, and performance evaluation.
  • Implement and support LED bezel design, ruggedized LRU development, touch screen interface, and head-mounted display (HMD) technologies.
  • Utilize knowledge in LCD backlight design and characterization, including optical measurement techniques.

Qualifications:
  • U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field with relevant experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in display hardware design or related electronic hardware roles.
  • Capable of obtaining a U.S. Security Clearance.
  • Familiarity with Military Standards and Test Requirements (e.g., MIL-STD, MIL-DTL).
  • Proficient with engineering development and test tools (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, etc.).
  • Must meet Anthropometric Size Requirements (ASR) to safely work inside military vehicles.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with ground combat vehicles or other military platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with display metrology equipment and video distribution technologies.
  • Ability to support climbing onto/into military vehicles, as well as working around them.
  • Exposure to continuous improvement methodologies in hardware development.
