Job description

About the Role:
The role of Harness Electrical Engineer Specialist will be working in our Harness Group and be responsible for designing Electrical Harnesses that will be used in our next generation of combat vehicles.
Responsibilities to Anticipate for this role:
  • Designing electrical wiring harnesses to include component selection for connectors, backshells, sleeving, braiding, sealants, boots, transitions, etc.
  • Determining harness layout through vehicle and branch points for multi-branch harnesses
  • Designing to environmental requirements for temperature, shock, vibration, submergence and exposure to harsh chemicals
  • Designing harnesses in Capital Harness System (CHS) (aka Mentor Graphics) software, working specifically in Harness XC, Capital Logic and Capital Topology

Secondary Tasks:
  • Working with CAD draftsman to route harnesses in 3D CAD tools (Pro-E and/or NX)
  • Working with CAD draftsman to develop released drawings for harnesses, electrical installations, wiring diagrams, etc.
  • Working with systems engineers to define whole vehicle pin-level interconnect
  • Working with physical architects to define harness routing channels, space claims
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Sought:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering
  • Experience with Harness Design highly desired
  • 5-7 years professional engineering experience
  • Ability to balance cost/schedule/technical priorities.
  • Occasional overtime and weekend hours may be required to complete critical tasks.
  • Experience with Microsoft Visio desirable.
  • Experience with Capital Harness System (CHS) (aka Mentor Graphics) software, specifically in Harness XC, Capital Logic and Capital Topology is desirable.
  • Experience with Pro-E Creo desirable.
  • Experience with NX desirable.
  • Basic proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to use Engineering Development and Test Tools.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Strong multi-tasking skills.
  • Strong record keeping skills.
  • Must be able to obtain a security clearance if necessary.

Additional Information / Desired Experience
  • This position may require eligibility to obtain a US security clearance. (Non-US Citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance)
  • Previous experience with ground combat Vehicle environment is a plus.
  • Able to bring continuous improvement processes and methodologies to the position. Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills is required. Works well in team and individually
  • Must be able to work occasional evening and/or weekend overtime as required.
