Job Summary:       

The Electrical Engineer will oversee the design and implementation of electrical engineering systems, ensuring that projects are completed within scope, on time, and on budget. This position requires technical expertise in electrical systems, lighting design, and compliance with codes and regulations. The ideal candidate will have experience in project technical direction and quality assurance, as well as a strong understanding of external codes, standards, and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Oversight:

  • Implement overall planning and direction of engineering functions and personnel in the electrical engineering department.
  • Provide technical direction and oversee the engineering activities to ensure project goals are met within design, budget, and schedule.
  • Manage engineering staff assignments, monitor performance, and conduct performance reviews.

Client and Stakeholder Communication:

  • Represent the company in design and engineering meetings with clients, vendors, and subcontractors as required.
  • Provide interpretations of external codes, regulations, and specifications to ensure compliance with industry standards.

Technical Expertise and Support:

  • Lead the development of electrical designs, including lighting selection, layout, and control systems.
  • Provide emergency lighting plots and calculation submittals.
  • Ensure that all necessary certificates, permits, and approvals are secured and maintained in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Guide value-engineering efforts and ensure quality assurance throughout engineering activities.
  • Develop and maintain high standards for electrical systems, ensuring compliance with all applicable codes and regulations.

Additional Duties:

  • Perform any other tasks as assigned by management.

Job Requirements:

Education and Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred but not required.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in electrical engineering or a similar role.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong technical knowledge of electrical engineering systems, including lighting design, control systems, and emergency lighting.
  • Proficiency in electrical design software and tools including AutoCAD, Revit, Bentley Easypower, Trimble, and Visual Lighting
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring quality and compliance.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite.

Leadership and Communication Skills:

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership abilities.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a focus on efficiency and effective project execution.

Industry Knowledge:

  • Familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and other relevant industry standards and regulations.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
