The Leidos Military OneSource program is seeking Outreach Assistants to work on an as needed, sporadic basis.

Candidates MUST:

Be US Citizens with military base access

AND

Be located within 40 miles of the base location.

AND

Be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Clearance.

The Outreach Assistant supports the Field Consultant role by providing coverage for events and outreach to educate Service members, their families, military leadership, and service providers about community and Military OneSource resources and services.  This role supports military-specific events when the Field Consultant is not able to attend to promote, provides direct support at military installation events with a focus on increasing program outreach and coordinate the promotion of services.

This position provides support for Government-directed and approved events at their installation, in coordination with the State Field Consultant and the Regional Outreach OA Coordinator. They provide outreach opportunities with third-party programs and services to connect Federal, state, local, and nonprofit resources to Active Duty, National Guard, and Reserve families.

Primary Responsibilities:

The Outreach Assistant is someone with a current military affiliation and installation access. They demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills, maintains a welcoming and professional presence, and possesses a thorough understanding of military culture, lifestyles, and command structures. Through proactive outreach and engagement, the position helps connect military communities with critical resources that enhance readiness, resilience, and overall well-being.

  • Represents the Military OneSource Program at military installation and community outreach events, when the Field Consultant is not able to attend, serving as a professional and knowledgeable ambassador for program services and resources.

  • Serve as an installation subject matter expert educating Service members, families, military leadership, and service providers on resources and services.

  • Conduct installation level community capacity-building activities by educating military and civilian service providers about program resources and services.

  • Identify Government-approved family programs and community resources for inclusion in the community resource finder, subject to Government review and approval.

  • Document and report outreach efforts, services provided, and identified gaps in service availability to inform program improvements and strategic outreach.

  • Maintain compliance with program reporting requirements and documentation standards.

  • Sets up, maintains, and manages informational displays, promotional materials, and outreach booths in accordance with event requirements and organizational standards.

  • Engages military service members, families, and community partners in meaningful conversations to increase awareness of Military OneSource programs, benefits, and support services.

  • Provides exceptional customer service by responding to inquiries, addressing concerns, and connecting individuals with appropriate resources to meet their needs.

  • Delivers accurate and consistent information regarding Military OneSource services, military family support programs, and available community resources.

Basic Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience.

  • Current military affiliation (Active Duty, National Guard, Reserve, military spouse, military retiree, or DoD civilian) required and must possess and maintain authorized access to military installations.

  • Minimum two years of experience providing customer service, outreach, community engagement, or related support services.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of military culture, military family lifestyles, and military command structures.

  • Excellent presentation skills and strong verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively engage diverse audiences.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to establish rapport with military service members, families, leadership, and community partners.

  • Ability to professionally represent the Military OneSource Program at outreach events, briefings, and community engagements.

  • Experience speaking to individuals and small groups, providing presentations, or conducting informational briefings preferred.

  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and maintain professionalism in a public-facing environment.

  • Ability to lift and transport outreach materials, displays, and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.

  • Must successfully complete all required program training and maintain knowledge of Military OneSource services, resources, and program updates.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain any required background checks, credentials, and access requirements necessary to perform duties on military installations.
