    Migrant SSP /Bilingual Specialist
    Reports To: Director of Federal Programs
    Job Location: District Schools (as assigned)
    Classification: Classified
    Work Days: 190 Days (10 Months)
    Position Summary
    The Migrant Bilingual Specialist supports identified migrant students by providing supplemental
    classroom instruction consistent with identified instructional goals. The Specialist collaborates
    with teachers, migrant area staff, administrators, and families to schedule and serve students. The Specialist also participates in the identification and recruitment of potential migrant students and families, reviews Occupational Surveys to determine eligibility, and ensures Priority for Services (PFS) students are served first.
    Qualifications
    Bilingual proficiency (preferred). Such additional qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
    Essential Duties and Responsibilities
    Provide supplemental instructional support for identified migrant students, prioritizing PFS
    students.
    Collaborate with teachers to adapt and provide differentiated services.
    Translate documents and conversations as needed related to migrant students.
    Review and analyze Occupational Surveys with school registrars to determine eligibility.
    Provide parents/guardians with an explanation of the Migrant Program and Occupational
    Survey.
    Conduct recruitment activities during school holidays and at community sites (labor
    camps, farms, hotels, motels, trailer parks, ethnic stores, laundries).
    Participate in the planning, revision, and implementation of the Local Identification and
    Recruitment Plan.
    Maintain contact with area farms and businesses to confirm arrival of eligible migrant
    families.
    Coordinate and attend college/career days (arranging transportation as needed).
    Provide support to out-of-school youth and dropouts qualifying for migrant services.
    Serve as a liaison between home and school; assist with Parent Advisory Council
    recruitment and related activities.
    Maintain accurate records of program activities, including phone calls, home visits, PAC
    support, travel, and other approved duties.
    Maintain regular attendance at assigned school sites and adhere to established sign-in/sign-
    out procedures.
    Participate in MSIX training and implement Migrant Program guidelines.
    Adhere to FERPA regulations and maintain confidentiality of student information.
    Develop a flexible work schedule to meet the needs of the migrant population.
    Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Federal Programs.
    Evaluation
    This position will be evaluated annually by the Director of Federal Programs using the district-approved evaluation method.
