The Surface Land Agent II/III is responsible for acquiring and managing surface rights necessary to support midstream infrastructure projects, including pipelines, facilities, and related assets. This role requires an advanced knowledge of all Surface Land related functions, including strong technical knowledge, title research, negotiation skills, and the ability to coordinate across multiple disciplines to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
The Surface Land Agent II/III responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Identify and verify surface and gas estate ownership.
  • Analyze, interpret, negotiate, prepare and acquire Midstream Agreements, Rights-of-Way, and other surface-related contracts.
  • Review and analyze title, oil and gas data, and mapping to support project development.
  • Provide due diligence on identified potential pipeline routes, facility sites, and right-of-way locations.
  • Manage contractors and external land agents to ensure projects progress efficiently, meet deadlines, and remain within budget.
  • Collaborate closely with project teams including routing, surveying, permitting, engineering, and construction to support pre-construction investigations and planning activities.
  • Prepare and facilitate the execution of specialized damage releases, settlement agreements, and other legal documents with required approvals.
  • Coordinate with internal legal counsel and third-party companies to facilitate timely and cost-effective project execution.
  • Support active construction and reclamation phases as needed.

Required Experience and Skills:
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a similar surface land role.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • Working knowledge of the oil and gas industry, with emphasis on midstream operations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to develop practical solutions.
  • Self-motivated and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat; ability to learn additional software systems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage professionally and effectively at all organizational levels.
  • Demonstrated initiative and a drive to improve processes and performance.

Preferred Experience and Skills:
  • Experience with GIS, SmartSheet, Quorum, Salesforce, PowerBI is preferred.

Work Location:
This position will primarily work remotely, with field travel required across our operating area.
Selected incumbent will be placed into the position that best suits their abilities and experience level.
