Job description

Mortgage Loan Originators perform the following functions:

  • Generating first mortgage real estate loans from the MIDFLORIDA field of membership.
  • Reviewing pre-qualifications to determine appropriate programs and products for members.
  • Issuing prequalification letters and appropriate disclosures.
  • Processing referrals and online applications.
  • Conduct and issue prequalification letters and appropriate disclosure documents.
  • Reviewing credit reports and locking in loans with secondary market (if applicable).
  • Auditing files for complete information and compliance with secondary market guidelines.
  • Providing good faith estimates, truth-in-lending, and other appropriate disclosures to borrowers within 3 business days of application.
  • Present a neat and professional personal appearance, in accordance with credit union professional image standards.
  • Exercise sound judgment and discretion while remaining compliant with well-defined limits and guidelines.
  • Provide technical solutions in support of MIDFLORIDAโ€™s electronic services.
  • Exhibit a high degree of integrity, trustworthiness, and professionalism always.
  • Exude a positive and professional attitude with members and partners consistently.
  • Develop a strong understanding of customer facing technology with the ability to discuss with and enroll members in self-service options.
  • Support assigned branches and members in all mortgage lending needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications include:

  • Possess excellent customer service skills along with strong verbal and written communications skills.
  • 3 years of government (FHA/VA/USDA) and conventional loan origination experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of the real estate market and thorough understanding of Federal and State mortgage regulations.
  • Experience with loan underwriting and secondary market guidelines.
  • Proficient in the use of computers, the internet and Microsoft Office.
  • The eligibility to meet the requirements of the SAFE Act to be registered as an MLO with NMLS.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required;ย aย bachelorโ€™s degree in a business-related field is preferred.
