Job description

Cigna-Evernorth Services Inc. seeks a Software Engineering Advisor for the St. Louis, MO location to design, develop, and maintain complex enterprise software applications.

Responsibilities:

Architect, write, and enhance sophisticated software solutions that support mission critical healthcare and Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) business functions.

Contribute to cross-functional engineering teams, drive end to end software design, development, and quality assurance efforts, and produce detailed technical specifications and solution designs.

Perform peer code reviews, uphold engineering best practices, and maintain complex application codebases through disciplined coding, testing, and debugging.

Lead the delivery of technical solutions for multiple concurrent projects within a major application ecosystem, ensuring high quality engineering execution and alignment with enterprise technology strategy.

Identify and implement process improvements, collaborate with architects to define technology roadmaps, modernize application components, and participate in decisions related to adoption or retirement of technology tools.

Contribute to reusable engineering standards, troubleshoot urgent production incidents, conduct root cause analysis, and drive long term corrective actions.

Utilize Java and Spring Boot to build enterprise microservices and orchestration layers.

Design, develop, and maintain backend data persistence solutions using MongoDB, including documenting schema modeling, indexing strategies, query optimization, and performance tuning.

Develop user interactive front-end applications using ReactJS, HTML5, XHTML, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery, AJAX, JSON, and Bootstrap.

Implement event driven architectures using Apache Kafka to support real time synchronization across distributed PBM systems.

Create reusable service libraries and build responsive client server workflows using AJAX and JSON for secure data exchange.

Design and implement API endpoints to support automated data exchange, user provisioning, and identity and access management workflows, integrating enterprise systems through Boomi middleware and Saviynt Identity Governance and Administration (IGA) solutions.

Utilize GitHub for version control and collaborative development, use Node.js and NPM scripts for build and test automation, and leverage Spring IoC and Dependency Injection to create modular and maintainable application components.

Write and maintain JUnit test suites, implement observability solutions using Dynatrace and New Relic, and enforce static code quality standards via SonarQube.

Support deployment of software components into integration and QA environments and utilize AWS and OpenShift for hosting, monitoring, and continuous integration of enterprise healthcare applications.

Hybrid work schedule.

Qualifications:

Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field and 3 years of experience in any software engineering role in the Pharmacy Benefit Management ("PBM") domain.

Will accept a Bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience.

Must have experience with: claims adjudication, eligibility, benefit configuration, formulary logic, and regulatory compliance workflows;

Backend software development using Java and Spring Boot including Microservices Architecture, REST API design, Dependency Injection, and Distributed System Engineering;

Front-end application development using ReactJS including building dynamic, responsive, and accessible user interfaces aligned with healthcare and PBM workflows;

Web Development using HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery, AJAX, JSON, and Bootstrap;

Real-time data integration and event-driven architecture using Apache Kafka including cross-database synchronization and distributed messaging pipelines;

Development of reusable service libraries and shared components to standardize functionality and reduce duplication across enterprise PBM applications;

Source control and collaborative development using GitHub including branch strategies, pull-request workflows, and peer code reviews;

Build and test automation using Node.js and NPM scripts including support for CI/CD pipelines; automated unit testing using Junit including authoring, maintaining, and executing comprehensive test suites for backend components;

Static code quality governance using SonarQube including enforcing coding standards and remediating quality gate violations; application monitoring and observability using Dynatrace and New Relic including diagnosing performance issues and tuning high transaction systems;

AWS cloud services for application deployment, hosting, monitoring, and scalable system operations; Red Hat OpenShift platform experience including container orchestration, CI/CD integration, and enterprise deployment workflows;

Enterprise integration experience using Boomi middleware including implementation of API based data exchange, system integrations, and workflow automation; Identity and access management (IAM) integration using Saviynt Identity Governance solutions including user provisioning, access lifecycle management, and compliance driven identity workflows;

High severity production incident resolution, including root cause analysis and long-term remediation for PBM systems; and,

End-to-end software development lifecycle execution in an Agile environment including cross functional collaboration, iterative delivery, and coordinated releases across development, integration, QA, and production environments.
