Job Summary

This position is responsible for executing the daily production plans and managing the day to day production activities for an assigned group of production workers to deliver high quality products to our customers on a timely basis. Additionally, this position is responsible for maintaining and meeting goals related to performance and efficiency, while meeting quality and service standards. Effective communication with direct reports, colleagues, and management is essential.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Analyzes production specifications and plant capacity data and performs mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes, tools, and human resource requirements
  • Plans and schedules workflow for each process and operation according to previously established manufacturing sequences and lead times
  • Plans sequence of manufacturing operations for guidance of production workers.
  • Confers with Section Manager to determine status of assigned projects
  • Expedites operations that delay schedules and alters schedules to meet unforeseen conditions
  • Prepares production reports
  • Prepares lists of required materials, tools, and equipment
  • Prepares requisition to obtain materials, tools, and equipment
  • Works with Nova and Microsoft Office on a regular basis with particular focus on Excel spreadsheets
  • Responsible for identifying and developing talent in order to optimize human resources to insure maximum production capabilities and encourage employee advancement
  • Maintains a safe work environment and maintaining 5S standards
  • Any other duties that may be assigned by management
Supervision and Scope of Position

Directly supervises from 5 to 30 non-supervisory employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications and Requirements
  • EDUCATION:  Bachelor's degree preferred with three to five years' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience working with teams in production and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM)

  • LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

  • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:  Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Must have the ability to read a tape measure.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.  Must have the ability to create basic Excel spreadsheets and formulas.

  • REASONING ABILITY:  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
