Job Overviewย
Cogent People Inc. is seeking a Mid-Level Software Developer to join our IT team, working on software solutions that support data and analytics workflows.ย
This role is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable applications and services that support critical business operations and reporting. The position ensures alignment with business goals, user needs, and technical requirements through the development of cloud-native, mission-critical systems and integration with data pipelines and analytics workflows.ย
The ideal candidate will bring experience in software development, cloud technologies, data integration, and analytics workflows, along with the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams and operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.ย
What You'll Doย
- Develop software components and services in Python and/or Java that support data integrations, processing, and reportingย ย
- Build and support cloud-native applications and data processing solutions within AWS environmentsย ย
- Analyze existing applications for performance, reliability, and integration, and recommend improvementsย ย
- Work alongside and integrate with existing data pipelines and analytics workflows to support business data productsย ย
- Support automation and enhancement of reporting workflows, data processing, and operational support activitiesย ย
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve application and integration issuesย ย
- Collaborate with architects and business stakeholders to develop solutions for data-centric, integrated systemsย ย
- Conduct unit testing of developed code and support regression and acceptance testingย ย
- Contribute to code reviews, technical documentation, and knowledge sharing within the teamย
Requirements
What We're Looking Forย
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experienceย ย
- 4-6 years of experience in software developmentย ย
- Proven hands-on experience with Python and/or Javaย ย
- Experience working with data pipelines and analytics workflowsย
- Experience working with relational databases and SQLย ย
- Experience building and deploying applications or workflows on AWS cloud servicesย ย
- Solid understanding of performance optimization, data quality, security best practices, and application integrationย ย
- Ability to conduct unit testing and support regression and acceptance testingย ย
- Excellent written and verbal communication skillsย ย
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to high-quality, accurate workย ย
- Proven ability to manage time and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environmentย ย
- Ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teamsย ย
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilitiesย
What Will Set You Apartย
- AWS certification (Developer, Solutions Architect, or Data-related)ย ย
- Experience with Snowflake, Databricks, or similar data platformsย ย
- Experience with Splunk or similar observability/log analytics toolsย ย
- Experience with AI-assisted development toolingย ย
- Experience with workflow orchestration and infrastructure automation tools such as Terraformย ย
- Prior experience working in highly regulated environments, such as government contractsย ย
- Adaptability to new and emerging technologies, with a proactive approach to identifying and solving problemsย
