Job description

We are recruiting a Cost Accountant in the Spartanburg, SC area for a generator enclosure manufacturer and service company. This is a mid-level position with a great company, excellent culture and competitive benefits. If you are looking to advance your career, please apply.

Responsibilities:

  • Comprehensive Cost Management: Manage the full scope of cost accounting activities, including job costing, inventory valuation, and standard costing for raw materials, WIP, and finished goods.
  • Production Oversight: Maintain accurate cost records for all active production orders by ensuring precise allocation of direct materials, labor, and overhead.
  • Variance Analysis: Analyze actual costs versus estimates and investigate significant variances in purchase prices (PPV), labor, and material usage.
  • Inventory Control: Coordinate physical inventory counts and cycle programs, resolving discrepancies and reconciling the inventory sub-ledger to the general ledger.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare detailed job cost summaries, profitability reports, and monthly budget-to-actual analyses for management and department heads.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of annual operating budgets and quarterly reforecasts specifically for manufacturing cost centers.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Operations, Production, and Supply Chain teams to identify cost trends, provide financial insights, and develop corrective action plans.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • CPA or CMA certification preferred.
  • 3โ€“6 years of cost accounting experience.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, financial modeling).
  • Solid understanding of GAAP as it applies to manufacturing cost accounting.
