About This Role
The Servicing Accounting Associate supports the Residential Credit and MSR business units by reconciling, reviewing, and overseeing subservicers' financially related activities. Servicing Accounting team resides within the Finance Team at Annaly. Responsibilities span Test of Expected Cash, cash flow reconciliations, advance, repurchases and servicing transfer reconciliations and exceptions, data integrity, exception management, and oversight of investor reporting.
Mortgage Products are a high-growth area for Annaly, requiring strong execution, scalable controls, and effective cross-functional collaboration. The Associate level at a REIT is a mid-level position directly under VP within the REIT structure providing guidance, support and team management in this role.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Partner with the Trading Desk, Residential Credit, MSR Oversight, sub-servicers, and sellers to identify, reconcile, and collect cash due to and from counterparties associated with bulk servicing transfers, loan sales, and portfolio acquisitions.
  • Lead the reconciliation and settlement of servicing transfer balances, including principal and interest, escrow, advances, fees, suspense balances, and other transfer-related assets and liabilities to ensure accurate financial and operational onboarding.
  • Review and reconcile escrow disbursements occurring prior to servicing transfer dates to ensure sellers are appropriately reimbursed and all settlement cash flows are complete, accurate, and supported by adequate documentation.
  • Work directly with sub-servicers and counterparties to validate transferred balances, investigate discrepancies, and ensure servicing transfer positions accurately reflect the economic obligations and ownership records of the transferred portfolio.
  • Develop and maintain reconciliation routines, settlement controls, and exception reporting to validate servicing transfer activity, identify cash breaks, and resolve outstanding balances within established timelines.
  • Reconcile sub-servicer remittance activity to internal systems, transfer settlement schedules, and external investor reporting platforms, including FNMA and FHLMC systems, and coordinate resolution of differences with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Evaluate systems, reconciliation tools, and operational workflows to improve transfer settlement accuracy, automate reconciliation processes, and strengthen financial controls and reporting capabilities.
  • Collaborate with the Servicing Oversight team to support sub-servicer onboarding, contract implementation, transfer readiness reviews, operational due diligence, and control assessments related to servicing transfer activity.

Qualifications/Requirements
  • 3+ years of leadership experience in Investor Reporting, Investor Accounting or Servicing Accounting
  • Solid reconciliation and research skills with an ability to problem solve and adapt to change
  • Strong MS Excel skills, including ability to create data connections, utilize index, match, sumproduct, and pivot tables
  • Intermediate SQL skills preferred
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks or projects simultaneously and work in a time-sensitive deadline driven environment.
  • Mortgage servicing platform experience a strong plus (MSP, LSAMS, SBO, etc.)

  • Must be willing to work in Dallas, TX, on-site three (3) days a week
  • Bachelor's degree required
