Job Summary
The Wind Technician Level 2 performs advanced preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of wind turbines, electrical equipment and Balance of Plant systems while supporting safe and reliable plant operations. This position works with limited supervision and serves as a technical resource for less experienced technicians.
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform scheduled and corrective maintenance on wind turbines.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, mechanical and PLC systems.
  • Perform component replacements on multiple turbine platforms.
  • Assist with medium and high voltage switching activities.
  • Support troubleshooting of substation and Balance of Plant equipment.
  • Complete maintenance documentation using computerized maintenance systems.
  • Support inventory management and purchasing activities.
  • Monitor contractor work.
  • Participate in rotating on-call coverage.
  • Assist in training and mentoring Wind Technician Level 1 employees.
  • Travel to support other TerraForm sites when required.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Trade or technical education preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of utility-scale wind maintenance experience.
  • Experience troubleshooting GE 1.5 MW or Clipper 2.5 MW turbines preferred.
  • Working knowledge of hydraulic, electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to climb 90-meter wind turbines daily.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs independently.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and computerized maintenance systems.
  • Ability to obtain required TerraForm safety certifications.
