Job description

Overview
At Mojang Studios, the creators of Minecraft, we are on a mission to build a better world through the power of play.
Why play? Well, play is at the heart of everything we do. It's the blocky backbone of our games, the core of our development philosophy, and even the origin of our name. From the relentless experimentation of our endlessly inspiring community to the classrooms where Minecraft has become an essential teaching tool, play is the bedrock of our existence.
We enable millions to create and play together, connect people across the globe, and foster a community that is among the most active and passionate in the world. Our community is global and incredibly diverse. When we are developing anything within our franchise, we keep this in mind. We want everyone to not only feel included in Minecraft, but also to see themselves in what we make. Our goal is for the Mojang Studios team to be as diverse as our community.
Minecraft inspires millions to create together, connects people across the globe, and brings together one of the most active and passionate communities in the world. The Minecraft team is looking for a Multiplayer Lead Product Manager to drive the next generation of creator-operated multiplayer experiences, social play systems, and discovery surfaces across Minecraft.
This role will lead strategy and execution across Creator Online Multiplayer and the platform capabilities that help players safely find, join, and return to high-quality multiplayer experiences. You will partner closely with Engineering, Design, Marketing, Business Development, Legal, Player Safety, Marketplace, Bedrock Platform, Java, and creator teams to turn ambiguous opportunities into clear product plans, launch-ready experiences, measurable business outcomes, and scalable operating rhythms. You are an experienced product leader who brings clarity to complex technical and ecosystem challenges, balances player experience with creator and business needs, and communicates crisp trade-offs to executives and cross-functional stakeholders.
Microsoft's mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees, we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.
Responsibilities
Strategy & Vision
  • Define and evolve the Multiplayer product strategy aligned to player experience, creator success, and business growth.
  • Translate platform gaps, partner needs, player journeys, and market signals into clear product priorities, investment trade-offs, roadmaps, and executive-ready recommendations.
  • Identify opportunities to grow high-quality multiplayer supply, improve discovery and conversion, and expand Minecraft's creator-led play ecosystem.

Product Execution & Platform Delivery
  • Lead end-to-end product delivery from discovery through launch, iteration, and operating health across cross-platform Minecraft clients, services, creator tools, and partner experiences.
  • Partner with Engineering and Design to define requirements, resolve technical dependencies, improve join and transfer flows, strengthen discovery experiences, and reduce platform risk in areas such as networking, telemetry, and release readiness.
  • Drive predictable execution across multiple concurrent launches, including beta planning, release criteria, launch communications, bug triage, quality gates, and post-launch performance reviews.

Creator, Partner & Business Ecosystem Ownership
  • Partner with creator teams, Business Development, Marketing, Legal, and Marketplace stakeholders to determine launch schedules, monetization design, and go-to-market plans for creator-operated multiplayer experiences.
  • Balance growth, creator success, quality, safety, compliance, and player trust while building scalable operating models for a portfolio of partner experiences.
  • Use portfolio performance, funnel data, player feedback, and creator insight to improve monetization, retention, content quality, and launch sequencing.

Data, Safety & Operational Excellence
  • Establish KPIs and success metrics for engagement, retention, monetization and funnel conversion.
  • Use experimentation, telemetry, customer feedback, and post-launch readouts to guide product decisions and continuously improve outcomes.
  • Partner with Player Safety, QA, Policy, CELA, and platform teams to ensure multiplayer experiences meet safety, privacy, compliance, and operational requirements before and after launch.

Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Drive alignment across Product, Engineering, Design, Marketing, Business Development, Legal, Player Safety, Marketplace, Java, Bedrock Platform, PADI, and executive stakeholders.
  • Create clear operating rhythms, decision frameworks, escalation paths, and communication artifacts that help teams move quickly through ambiguity.
  • Represent Colosseum/Multiplayer strategy, risks, progress, and investment needs in leadership forums, business reviews, partner discussions, and launch readiness reviews.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 1+ year(s) people management experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 10+ years in product management, program management, or related roles.
  • 5+ years leading large-scale, cross-functional product initiatives from strategy through launch and iteration.
  • Experience delivering customer-centric, data-driven products or services with measurable business and user outcomes.
  • Experience with games, live services, online multiplayer platforms, marketplaces, creator ecosystems, or digital commerce.
  • Experience delivering cross-platform product experiences that span client, services, tooling, telemetry, and partner-facing workflows.
  • Proven understanding of monetization models, discovery surfaces, launch operations, and ecosystem health for player- and creator-facing products.
  • Experience balancing growth with safety, privacy, compliance, policy, quality, and player trust requirements.
  • Proven experience in stakeholder management, executive communication, and ability to drive clarity through technical, organizational, and partner ambiguity; passion for games and deep empathy for Minecraft players, creators, and communities.

In the end, it's the people of Mojang Studios that make this place truly special. When you join, you'll find yourself in the company of incredibly bright, warm, and creative individuals - all united and working toward a single goal. Come help us reach it!
