The Player and Data Insights team is seeking a Senior Analytics Lead to help shape the future of analytics at Mojang Studios. This role combines strategic analytics, business intelligence, and stakeholder leadership to drive data-informed decision making across the studio.
The ideal candidate combines business acumen, technical analytics expertise, and solid communication skills to uncover insights, define measurement strategies, and scale analytics capabilities across the studio. You will partner closely with Product, Business, Data Science, and Data Engineering teams to enable better decision-making, establish trusted metrics, and deliver impactful insights that improve player experiences.
As analytics continues to evolve, this role will help define how users access and consume data through scalable reporting, self-service analytics, emerging AI-enabled experiences, and solid metrics governance practices.
Responsibilities
  • Partner with Product, Business, and Studio leaders to define success metrics, measurement frameworks, and key performance indicators
  • Translate complex business questions into analytical approaches, actionable insights, and strategic recommendations
  • Synthesize analytical findings into compelling narratives and executive-ready recommendations
  • Champion analytics best practices that empower teams to leverage data effectively in day-to-day decision-making
  • Evaluate emerging analytics and AI capabilities and identify opportunities to improve access to insights, streamline decision-making, and scale analytics impact across the studio
  • Drive consistency, trust, and alignment through shared metric definitions, semantic models, and measurement frameworks
  • Develop and maintain executive scorecards, business reviews, dashboards, and reporting solutions that enable strategic decision-making

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related field AND 2+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, data science, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis
    • OR Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Economics or related field AND 4+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, data science, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis
    • OR equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 8+ years experience in data analysis and insights, data science, or business intelligence OR equivalent experience
  • 4+ years experience building in PowerBI / Fabric, Tableau, Looker, or related tools
  • Experience partnering with Product, Business, and Executive stakeholders to influence strategy and drive decision-making through data
  • Advanced SQL and/or Python skills and experience working with large-scale datasets to solve complex business problems
  • Experience applying AI capabilities within analytics workflows, including generative AI, natural-language data experiences, or AI-assisted reporting
  • Experience with experimentation methodologies, statistical analysis, performance measurement, and impact evaluation frameworks
  • Passion for games, player experiences, and data-informed product development

Data Analytics IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $106,400 - $203,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $137,600 - $222,600 per year.
