Job description

Starting Wage Range: $29.76/hr. - $38.39/hr.

Job Summary:

Serves as the point of contact for Tribal employees needing computer peripheral support. Primary duties will include inventory audit and control, data entry and maintenance, documentation, maintenance of required reports, and customer support and maintenance of computer peripheral equipment. Secondary responsibilities include the support for computer systems.

Essential Functions:

  • Installs, configures, and/or repairs peripheral devices including memory, disk drives, modems, printers, faxes, copiers, input devices, etc.
  • Maintains service records and documentation of repairs, parts replacement(s), identification numbers and unit location.
  • Monitors and maintains toner/cartridge inventory for all tribal printers and copiers.
  • Collects and maintains all trending data for copiers and printers to include page counts and costs per printer per department.
  • Delivers and installs all toner and ink cartridge replacements as needed and in a timely manner.
  • Evaluates all printer and copier work orders, initiates repair requests as necessary, and provides follow up and documentation.
  • Installs, configures, and maintains other computer peripherals, i.e., camera’s, scanners, and monitors.
  • Manages check out and return of check out items such as projectors, laptops, tablets, etc.
  • Installs and configures personal cell phones for work applications such as email, etc.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality of all information encountered while performing daily tasks.
  • Informs immediate supervisor of activities and of any significant issues requiring attention.
  • Works in a professional courteous manner, as a representative of the Tribe, with all customers to include vendors, Tribal employees and contractors.
  • Ensures that all Information Systems equipment and work area(s) are secured and well maintained.
  • Maintains computers including preparation, repair, and upgrading of software and hardware under the direction of Sr. Help Desk Technicians.
  • Performs preventive maintenance on hardware and equipment at all necessary location(s) as directed.
  • Performs installations and diagnostics of computer systems under the direction of Sr. Help Desk Technicians.
  • Installs and Configures VoIP phones for the Sr. Telecommunications Technician
  • Orders and maintains Information Systems Department supply items.
  • Assists the Audio/Video Technician when required for Tribal events, i.e., General Council and Tribal Council meetings, Pow-Wows, special events, etc.
  • Performs a key role in the relocation of computer equipment and peripherals associated with space changes and relocation of program personnel.
  • Performs a variety of other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Education, Experience, and Licenses:

  • Requires a high school diploma or GED.
  • Previous data entry and computer/peripheral maintenance experience preferred.
  • OR equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Driving Requirements:

  • This position may require driving.

Qualifications, Registrations, and Certifications:

  • Ability to obtain a Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) security clearance within 6 months of date of hire is required.
  • Requires obtaining a Microsoft Office Specialist certification within six (6) months of hire.
  • Requires knowledge of principles and practices of computers, laptops, current Microsoft Windows operating system(s), and the current Microsoft Office productivity suite.
  • Must possess analytical and problem solving skills and personal initiative, including the ability to carry out assign duties and pay great attention to detail.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations in meeting and dealing with others required.
  • Ability to efficiently accomplish various activities and projects simultaneously and within appropriate time constraints required.
  • Ability to apply problem solving techniques required.
  • Ability to use good judgment in the analysis of facts and circumstances to determine the appropriate action(s) to be taken within the limits of standard or accepted practices required.
  • Ability to organize and maintain records and files required.
  • Knowledge of and sensitivity to Native American culture required.

Environmental Factors and Conditions/Physical Requirements:

  • Continually requires the ability to express or receive detailed information or important instructions through oral communication.
  • Continually requires working with fingers rather than the whole hand or arm. Requires repetitive movement of wrists, hands and/or fingers. Often requires walking or moving about to accomplish tasks.
  • Requires standing and/or sitting for sustained periods of time, raising objects from a lower to a higher position and/or moving objects horizontally.
  • Occasionally requires lifting of up to 75 pounds.
  • Due to the nature of the interactions with other employees and the public we serve, employees may be required to provide documentation of, or receive, certain health vaccinations.
  • This position is frequently subject to inside environmental conditions which provide protection from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes, and is occasionally subject to outside environmental conditions.
  • May be called upon to serve as a Disaster Reservist during emergencies.
  • Occasionally works ten hours or longer a day, nights and weekends.
  • Occasionally works after hours in support of Tribal Events.
  • Local travel is occasionally required. Travel outside of the state is infrequently required.
