What is a Microsoft Help Desk Remote?

Microsoft Help Desk Remote jobs involve providing technical support and troubleshooting assistance to users of Microsoft products and services, such as Windows, Office, and Microsoft 365, from a remote location. Employees in these roles typically handle customer inquiries, resolve software or hardware issues, and guide users through problem-solving steps via phone, chat, or email. These positions require strong communication skills, technical knowledge of Microsoft products, and the ability to work independently from home or another remote setting.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a Microsoft Help Desk Remote specialist?

To thrive as a Microsoft Help Desk Remote specialist, you need a solid understanding of Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office applications, troubleshooting techniques, and often an associate degree or relevant certification such as CompTIA A+ or Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate. Familiarity with remote support tools, ticketing systems like ServiceNow or Zendesk, and knowledge of Active Directory are typically required. Exceptional communication, patience, and problem-solving skills help you efficiently assist users and resolve technical issues from a distance. These abilities are crucial for providing timely, effective support and ensuring user satisfaction in a remote IT environment.

To address these challenges, leveraging remote diagnostic tools, setting clear expectations with users, and utilizing knowledge bases or documentation can be highly effective. Additionally, regular collaboration with team members through chat or video meetings helps ensure consistent support quality and knowledge sharing.

Job description

Are you someone passionate about reshaping the mining industry from early-stage planning torelinquishment and making a positive impactthroughrehabilitation andreclamationwork?

If that sounds like you, we'd love to meet you. We are growing and are on the lookout for a Environmental Technologist to join our dynamic team. Come be a part of a visionary journey that is all about making a positive impact. This role is open to ourCalgaryoffice, hybrid working arrangements are available.

At Okane, we believe that integrated mine and closure planning is just the starting point to 'Help Create a Better Tomorrow'. We work with mining companies to return land responsibly and safely, enabling what comes next to serve both people and the planet. Our work challenges the status quo - we advocate for meaningful partnerships with communities, including Indigenous rightsholders, and design solutions that create lasting financial, environmental, and social value. From early-stage planning through to relinquishment, we're helping reshape the future of mining - and we're looking for people who want to be part of that transformation.

You enjoy the variety that comes with environmental consulting. One week you may be developing technical reports and planning field programs from the office; the next you could be working in a remote mountain valley, traversing reclaimed landscapes, or collecting data in northern Canada. You understand that the best environmental decisions are made by those who have experienced the landscape firsthand and enjoy balancing technical office work with time in the field.

Responsibilities:

In this role, you will assist in the development of Okane's Rehabilitation and Reclamation group by contributing ideas and supporting efforts to help our clients manage risks related to mine closure in standard and creative ways.

Your work will include:

  • Supporting the planning and execution of environmental field programs, including soil, vegetation, groundwater, surface water, and material characterization investigations.
  • Assisting in the preparation of clear, high-quality technical reports, work plans, and supporting documents for mine closure, reclamation, and environmental management projects.
  • Review field observations and technical data to support practical, science-based solutions for our clients.
  • Working collaboratively with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary project teams to coordinate field activities and support successful project delivery.
  • Contributing to reclamation and revegetation planning, monitoring, and implementation across projects at various stages of the mine life cycle.
  • Taking ownership of assigned tasks by working safely, maintaining accurate records, identifying field issues early, communicating clearly, and continuing to build your technical skills

Expectations for this Role:

    • Embody Okane's Core Vision ("Help Create a Better Tomorrow") and consistently demonstrate our Core Values: Passionate, Smart & Clever, Positive, Thoughtful & Caring, and Humble.
    • You enjoy seeing assigned field and technical tasks through from preparation to completion. You are comfortable taking a hands-on role in field programs, including supporting field preparation, daily coordination, safe execution and clear communication with the project team. You're the type of consultant who likes to understand the "why" behind the work. Instead of just collecting data, you focus on understanding what it means. You notice when something seems off and share your observations or possible solutions with the project team.
    • You enjoy working directly with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary project teams. You recognize that successful consulting is built on professionalism, reliability, and following through on your commitments.
    • Whether you're in the office or on site, you recognize that safety is part of every decision and actively contributes to Okane's health, safety, and environmental culture.

    Qualifications:

      • A diploma in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geology, Earth Sciences, Soil Science, Ecology, Reclamation, or a related discipline.
      • Two or more years of environmental consulting experience, including groundwater monitoring, contaminated site assessment and remediation, site reclamation, vegetation assessments, and related environmental field programs.
      • Experience preparing high-quality technical reports, work plans, and project documentation.
      • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
      • Experience using ArcGIS Pro or QGIS to support environmental mapping and data management is considered an asset.
      • Experience managing small projects, coordinating field programs, and monitoring project budgets is considered an asset.
      • A valid Class 5 driver's license, with experience safely operating 44 pickup trucks and navigating remote resource roads.
      • The ability to travel to project sites across Canada, including remote locations.
      • Eligibility for, or actively working towards, a relevant professional or technical designation (e.g., R.T.Ag., A.Sc.T., C.Tech., or equivalent.
