Job description

A Quebec-based insurance company is expanding its Extranet teams and is looking for developers to fix, modernize, and enhance portals for its clients, brokers, and partners, in a Microsoft cloud environment that blends modern technologies with outdated systems.

The work is hands-on: delving into a large codebase, delivering fixes and small features, and contributing to the ongoing modernization.

What we're looking for:

  • 5+ years of experience in C# .NET back-end development
  • Experience with secure web portals or public-facing applications
  • Experience with Microsoft and cloud environments, including Azure DevOps
  • Proficiency with general front-end architectures, MVC, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Daily use of AI and GitHub Copilot for code exploration and development
  • Autonomy, resourcefulness, and a passion for delving into existing systems
  • Technologies such as Kafka, Kong, React, or MongoDB are assets, not prerequisites.

  • Client is strengthening its Extranet teams as part of a priority security initiative, focused in the short term on vulnerability management and reducing obsolescence, with the occasional addition of features to the portals for customers, brokers, and dealers.
  • The work is primarily execution-oriented: fixing existing issues, delivering small features, and working within a large codebase.
  • The ideal candidate will have strong back-end development experience in C# .NET, with at least 5 years of experience, ideally gained on secure, public-facing web portals (government, banking, insurance, or similar sectors).
  • The environment is Microsoft and cloud-based (Azure DevOps Services), with a modern containerized infrastructure (Docker, Kubernetes) and some legacy components (older .NET versions) currently being modernized.
  • The framework is Scrum, with three-week sprints. The front-end is general-purpose (MVC, HTML, CSS, JavaScript), with React being a valuable asset. Daily use of AI (GitHub Copilot) for code exploration and development is non-negotiable.
  • The integration stack (Kafka, Kong, BizTalk), MongoDB, and token management are skills that can be learned and are considered assets; token experience is desired in at least one team member but not required of all. Different profiles should not be confused: front-end-only developer, middleware specialist without a .NET foundation, junior profile.

Requirements

WHAT WE DON'T WANT

  • Developer without a solid foundation in C# .NET back-end development.
  • Candidate with less than 5 years of experience.
  • Candidate unwilling to use AI or GitHub Copilot to explore code and develop.
  • Developer without experience in exposed web applications or client-facing portals.
  • Front-end only profile, or middleware specialist without a .NET application development foundation.
