Become an integral member of the Microsoft Defender - Endpoint Protection Client team and help protect consumers and enterprises from cyber-attacks. We're looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a team of developers designing and building the next generation of Endpoint Protection Client capabilities, including Agentic Protection and defenses against supply chain attacks. You'll help champion engineering fundamentals such as performance, reliability, and scalability across platforms of all sizes, while partnering closely with our Endpoint Research organization to build the foundational technologies that detect and protect against current and emerging threats.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements: Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft background and Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of software development experience within Windows operating systems, low-level systems software, or comparable systems programming environments.
  • 5+ years of experience leading and developing engineering teams, including people management and technical leadership responsibilities
  • Demonstrated success designing, architecting, and delivering scalable, reliable, and maintainable software solutions
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and disciplines
  • Demonstrated proficiency in C and C++
  • Experience developing software that uses concurrent, multithreaded, or parallel processing techniques

Software Engineering M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $142,800 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.
