Job description

Job Title: Microscopy Specialist

Location: Scottsdale, AZ (Located at East Bell Road and the 101)

Compensation: $85,000 - $125,000 Annually (Dependent on Experience)

Employment Type: Full Time with Benefits (Medical, Life, Dental, Vision, and 401k)

Schedule: On-site Monday through Friday. 8-hour day shift. No nights, no weekends, and no major holidays!


About the position:
This laboratory represents an exciting new chapter for Envita Medical Centers and is currently in a start-up and growth phase. We are building a strong foundation from the ground up, and this role will be critical in shaping the labโ€™s workflows, standards, and daily operations. The ideal candidate is highly hands-on, thrives in early-stage environments, and brings strong experience developing, implementing, and refining SOPs while working directly at the bench.
We are seeking a motivated, creative, and experienced Research Scientist to join a highly collaborative team that focuses on precision, personalized patient care using cutting-edge molecular technologies. The candidate will work on processing and analyzing patient samples using darkfield microscopy and other imaging platforms. The candidate will also have molecular biology and microbiology expertise, including nucleic acid extraction and working with infectious disease samples.
Role requirements:

  • PhD degree in biology, microbiology, life sciences, or related field with 5+ years of relevant laboratory experience
  • Proven in-depth expertise using darkfield microscopy to visualize cells, tumors, as well as living organisms such as bacteria and viruses
  • Adept at proper handling of human biological samples including infectious disease samples, preparing tissue and liquid biopsy samples for microscopic examination, slide preparation, and staining techniques
  • Solid experience with other microscopy and slide preparation techniques such as brightfield, fluorescence, and confocal microscopy
  • Proficient in molecular biology techniques such as nucleic acid extraction from tissue or liquid biopsy samples, purification, quantification, analysis, and PCR
  • Highly skilled in standard molecular and cellular biology techniques
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new technologies and platforms
  • Expertise in image analysis and interpretation of test results
  • Process and analyze patient samples
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot lab equipment
  • Excellent collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Knowledgeable about good laboratory practices and biosafety protocols

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, validate, and execute workflows for imaging patient samples using darkfield microscopy and other imaging platforms
  • Process patient samples for isolation of cancer cells and downstream processing
  • Prepare blood and tissue biopsy samples for imaging analysis
  • Perform nucleic acid extraction, purification, and other required molecular biology protocols
  • Help with data collection, analysis of results, record keeping, and integration into the LIMS platform
  • Maintain meticulous lab records, ensuring all protocols adhere to quality control standards
  • Collect, prepare, and manage SOPs as well as results
  • Manage the use of necessary reagents and supplies
  • Contribute to scientific publications as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • This position will work with managers and supervisors to enhance workflow operations, analyze data, and integration of results
