The Senior Clinical Editorial Operations Manager is responsible for day-to-day clinical content operations across Editorial, with a primary focus on contractor workflow oversight, quality assurance (QA), and sustainable implementation of process improvements and innovation initiatives. This role centralizes operational accountability for clinical contractor deliverables and QA to ensure work remains aligned to established Micromedex editorial standards, governance, and end-to-end publication expectations. The role also includes direct management of clinical operations team members and oversight of clinical surveillance workflows.
This role partners closely with other Editorial leaders and the Senior Director of Content Innovation & Optimization to operationalize changes (eg, AI-powered search feedback, information architecture and knowledge-layer improvements) while maintaining consistency across content portfolios.
Key Responsibilities
  • Contractor operations & resourcing: Own contractor resource strategy, including capacity planning, allocation, and optimization of resources to meet business needs; oversee contractor schedules, deliverables, and communications; maintain strong partnerships with contractor integrators, consultants, and Merative Contractor Operations, Procurement, and Accounts Payable.

  • People leadership & team management: Lead and develop the clinical operations team , including goals setting, establishing performance expectations, coaching, and career development; set priorities and provide oversight aligned with strategic priorities.

  • Workflow governance & documentation: In partnership with editors and managers, establish and govern processes to create, maintain, and improve workflows, SOPs, policies, and style guides; keep documentation current and accessible.

  • Quality assurance & editorial standards: Implement and manage QA checkpoints to ensure contractor work aligns with established editorial standards; identify quality trends and drive corrective actions.

  • Intake, triage, and prioritization: Partner with the Senior Director of Content Innovation and Optimization and Editorial Leadership to run intake and triage for innovation requests, optimization opportunities, and AI-search feedback; route work and track outcomes.

  • Change management & workflow redesign: Bring forward and translate innovation initiatives into operational plans, including training, documentation, QA, and handoffs; reduce variation and duplication across content modules to enable scaling.

  • Cross-functional partnership: Act as Editorial's operational liaison with Content Innovation & Optimization, Development, and Product Management, supporting product changes with content impact (eg, vector-based and AI search evolution, product redesign).

  • Customer support insights: Analyze customer feedback to identify insights that improve operations and resolve content issues.

  • Incident response coordination: Coordinate Editorial incident response, ensuring timely intake, prioritization, communication, and follow-through.

  • Portfolio operational oversight: Oversee and QA publishing processes, calculator update workflows, and mobile-related content operations.

  • Compliance support: Oversee adherence to off-label processes and conflict-of-interest requirements within Editorial workflows.

  • Knowledge and document management: Manage SharePoint and Teams libraries for Editorial operational documents, ensuring version control and appropriate access.

  • Operational reporting: Track Editorial KPIs such as throughput, quality, timeliness, and rework; provide regular updates to leadership and the Micromedex Senior Leadership Team.

Qualifications for success
  • PharmD, BS Nursing, or other related healthcare degree with 5+ years of patient care or operations experience

  • 3+ years of demonstrated people leadership and project management experience, with the ability to manage team members and lead complex, cross-functional initiatives; accountable for prioritization, execution, and delivery across multiple workstreams in a dynamic, operational environment

  • Working knowledge of clinical decision support systems applied at the point of care

  • Ability to apply knowledge and experience in critical thinking and problem-solving

  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain repeatable processes, documentation, and training to support scalable operations

  • Strong understanding of editorial governance and the importance of content integrity, including adherence to standards, policies, and style guidance

  • Experience partnering cross-functionally in matrixed environments

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to synthesize operational insights and present status and risks to stakeholders

  • Strong computer skills; familiarity with MS Office 365 products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, Copilot)

  • Self-motivated and able to work effectively in a remote working environment

Preferred Skills
  • Experience managing clinical or editorial operations, including contractor/vendor oversight, workflow execution, and quality assurance

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with management and other team members, including clinical and non-clinical colleagues

  • Working knowledge of generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools, Atlassian collaboration suite (Jira and Confluence), and Salesforce preferred

Work Environment
  • Office/work environment specifics: remote environment collaborating with other healthcare, product, and technical professionals

  • Travel requirements: minimal, for in-person team meetings and client and tradeshow support (approximately quarterly)

The salary range provided in this job posting is intended to reflect the general market value for the position. The actual salary offered may vary based on factors such as the candidate's experience, qualifications, skills, and the specific requirements of the role. This range may also be subject to change as market conditions evolve. We encourage open communication throughout the interview process to discuss compensation expectations. For base-salary + commission sales roles, the range represents On-Target Earnings.
