Job description

The Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida is currently looking to hire a full-time Skilled Construction Laborer with Plumbing Experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for completing all construction-related tasks assigned and use his/her plumbing skill set as needed during projects. They will ensure that projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to high standards. This role requires physical stamina, a strong work ethic, and the ability to follow instructions and safety guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Site Preparation: Assist in preparing construction sites by clearing debris, setting up barriers, and marking out areas.
  • Material Handling: Load, unload, and transport materials and equipment to and from project sites. Organize and store materials as needed.
  • Tool Operation: Operate hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently. Maintain and clean tools and equipment.
  • Construction Tasks: Perform manual labor tasks such as digging, lifting, carrying, concrete work, carpentry, flooring installation, interior remodeling, painting, waterproofing, pressure washing, assembly tasks, and plumbing work.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment. Wear and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Site Clean-Up: Clean and maintain work areas, including removing waste and debris, and ensuring the site is tidy and organized.
  • Communication: Report any issues or concerns to the supervisor in a timely manner. Communicate and work effectively with team members.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 3+ years of previous experience in construction or related fields, and 1 year of plumbing work experience.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, carrying, standing, crouching for long periods.
  • Skills: Knowledge of construction tools and equipment, interior remodeling work, concrete work, carpentry.

o Ability to follow directions and possess team-oriented disposition.

o Strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality. Willingness to work in various weather conditions and adapt to different tasks.

o Flexibility and willingness to produce quality work is a must.

  • Safety Awareness: Understanding of basic safety practices and the ability to adhere to safety guidelines.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Valid driver’s license is required. Certification in plumbing trade a plus.

Working Conditions:

  • Environment: Work is performed on project sites, which may be outdoors or in enclosed spaces.
  • Hours: 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM (Monday-Friday), but weekend work may be required.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry heavy materials, climb ladders and/or scaffolding, perform work at high elevations, and work in various positions and conditions.
