Job description

Job Title: Dispatcher
Position Type: Full-Time
Location: Portland, Oregon

Position Summary:

Elite Dispatching Services is looking for a dedicated and reliable Dispatcher to join our team. As the primary point of contact for both emergency and non-emergency calls, you will play a vital role in ensuring smooth communication between customers and our tow truck drivers. Your responsibilities will include maintaining accurate call logs, gathering essential information, monitoring driver routes, relaying messages, and providing guidance to drivers as needed. This position offers a dynamic, fast-paced environment where multitasking is key. The ideal candidate should have strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, and be able to work independently.

This position is for day or night shifts, working 3 ½ 12-hour shifts per week.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 6 months to 1 year of related experience
  • Strong knowledge of the Portland Metro area
  • Basic understanding of vehicle types (front-wheel, rear-wheel, 4-wheel, and all-wheel drive)
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to stay calm and professional when dealing with upset customers
  • Detail-oriented and thrives in a fast-paced environment with the ability to multitask
  • Familiarity with Towbook software is a plus

Responsibilities:

  • Provide excellent customer service for inbound and outbound calls
  • Address issues and coordinate with field units or departments as necessary
  • Operate a multi-line phone system
  • Direct tow truck drivers to proper locations, monitoring their routes as required
  • Review calls before dispatching to ensure accuracy
  • Prioritize and organize calls based on urgency
  • Provide pricing details and answer customer inquiries
  • Maintain accurate records in Towbook, including work requests, charges, inventory, and more
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
